Apple Music is one of my favorite music streaming platforms as it contains a great selection of music & also the ability to stream full Hi-Res Audio straight from the app is a total game-changer. You can use it on your phone/tablet/computer. But whenever the internet connection is interrupted, the application displays a message “An SSL error has occurred,” which is what many iPhone users have been getting recently. When you get the SSL error while you’re streaming songs on Apple Music, it means that your Apple device cannot connect and communicate to Apple’s services. Fortunately, we have a few troubleshooting methods that you can try to fix SSL errors on your Apple devices.
Fix “An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.” in Apple Music
Here are all the solutions you can try to fix the SSL error in Apple Music.
Check for Outages in your Area
First of all, you need to check if any outages are happening on Apple’s side based in your country or region. The System Status Page shows the outages happening in different local Regions and it also shows the International outages. A red triangle next to the service shows that it is down due to maintenance issues.
Make sure that you are connected to the internet
Sometimes, internet issues occur and we realize that there are other things to enjoy in life apart from the digital stuff. So, make sure that you are connected to the internet when you are trying to access Apple Music from your device.
Check with your browser and make sure that websites are opening normally. Open a new tab and enter whatever website comes to your mind. Most people type “google.com” and if it opens then you are good to go. If nothing is opening then it most likely means that your router has spoofed you successfully. Restart your router and wait for the internet to come back online. If you cannot do this after multiple attempts, it may be an outage from your ISP’s side.
Update the software
While this might be the most generic answer given to you by the customer service representative, it sometimes works. Go to the settings of your device and check if your Apple device is on the latest iOS/iPadOS/MacOS version. If not, then there must be an update pending. Update your device and it might just solve your SSL issue.
Check the Time and Date
This one is a little weird, but applications can sometimes start to malfunction if they aren’t able to read your time and date. If the Apple Music app is still showing the SSL error, it might be due to Time and Date sync issue.
Go into Settings > General > Time and Date and make sure that it is set correctly according to your time zone. The best option would be to set it to auto-detect so that it can change your date & time when necessary.
Restart the device
Sometimes, simply restarting your device can resolve SSL errors. To restart your device, press and hold the power button until the “slide to power off” option appears. Swipe the slider to the right to turn off your device, then press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
Reinstall the app
Clear cache and cookies
Clearing your device’s cache and cookies can help resolve SSL errors. To do this, go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data, and tap “Clear History and Data”.
Reset network settings
Resetting your device’s network settings can help resolve SSL errors. To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
So, that’s pretty much it. This is all you need to fix the SSL Error for Apple Music on your Apple Devices.
