Farming Simulator 25 isn’t just about growing crops. It’s also about raising animals, like cows. Feeding cows rightly is a step leading to a healthy cow, increased growth, and, of course, milk production. In Farming Simulator 25, you also have a couple of options to feed your cows. You can let them graze on the pasture, or you can create a more balanced diet using Total Mixed Ration (TMR). Let’s explore both methods in more detail.
How To Feed Cows
Here are a couple of ways you can feed your cows:
Meadow Grazing
Pros: It’s simple and low-maintenance; cows can graze on their own.
Cons: The nutrition isn’t as high, so cows may grow more slowly and produce less milk.
Total Mixed Ration (TMR)
Pros: This feed is highly nutritious, promoting faster growth and higher milk production.
Cons: It takes time and resources to prepare.
In short, while meadow grazing is the easier option, TMR is ideal if you’re aiming for the best health and productivity for your cows.
How To Make Total Mixed Ration (TMR)
To make the best food (TMR) for your cows, you’ll need two main ingredients: Hay and Silage. But you can’t just mix them together by hand. You’ll need a special machine called a Forage Mixer. There are many different types of Forage Mixers available, so you can choose one that best suits your needs.
To make TMR, you’ll need to gather Hay and Silage bales. Attach a Bale Spike to your Loader and pick up one bale of each. Then, take the bales to the Forage Mixer and drop them inside. As you do this, you’ll see the ingredient bars for Hay and Silage start to fill up. Once both bars are in the green zone, your mixer is ready to produce TMR. When the mixture is correct, you’ll see a special icon on the mixer indicating that it’s ready to be used to feed your cows.
To feed your cows the TMR you’ve made, you’ll need to park your Forage Mixer near a specific spot. Look for a food icon, either inside or outside the barn. Once you’ve parked the mixer, switch to the dumping exit, which is located in front of the cows. Then, simply dump the TMR from the mixer into the feeding trough.
