Bai Chilian is one of the most difficult bosses that players will face in Phantom Blade Zero because of her quick and unpredictable nature. But by utilising the proper weapon and knowing when to parry or avoid her attacks, this battle becomes more manageable. In this guide, we’ll show you the best weapon to use and how to defeat Master Bai Chilian in both phases.

Best Weapon for Lady of the Twin Serpents

Make sure you prepare The Outlaw’s Warblade, because this allows you to charge your attacks while Bai Chilian is not around. Once she executes the two sword swipes and vanishes, charge your attack and launch it as soon as she appears. It will hit her twice. Next, make a quick sidestep, charge and launch an attack to hit her and interrupt her attacks. It also means that your stagger resistance will be very high, because Bai Chilian won’t be able to interrupt your charging attacks.

How To Defeat Master Bai Chilian

You don’t need to do anything special before entering the arena. Just make sure you’re comfortable with your weapon and its parry timing before starting the fight.

Phase 1: Lady of the Twin Serpents Attack Patterns

At the very beginning of the battle, try to position yourself somewhere in the middle of the arena. After Lady of the Twin Serpents disappears, start tapping the parry button once the screen begins to move. Do not spam this button because you should not be tapping it very fast. The consistent rhythm of tapping is the best way to get some perfect parries. Continue doing that until you make her stagger. Once she is staggering, deal damage to her by using light attacks (Square on PlayStation). Make sure to charge your L2 weapon attack when you are fighting her.

In case you successfully dodge her red flash attack, you will have an opportunity to make a couple of additional hits. Yet, do not be scared if sometimes you will be getting hit because of the lifesteal skill that the Outlaw Warblade provides. In case you lose too much health, you can use any healing item.

Whenever your Sha-Chi meter is close to being filled, use the L2 attack. It can do significant damage and will also heal a lot of HP, helping you survive through the battle. One other move that you must be careful about is the serpentine attack, which sprouts from the ground. As soon as you notice it happening, run back and quickly parry her attack. Even though you take some damage, it isn’t a lot of damage.

Overall, the first phase is fairly simple once you understand the timing. Stay near the middle, keep tapping parry when she disappears, attack whenever she’s staggered, and save your L2 attack for when your Sha-Chi meter is nearly full.

Phase 2: The Sacrificial Serpent

This part is slightly less complicated compared to the first stage. You can try using the same approach by pressing the parry button repeatedly. This will provide you with a decent chance to parry perfectly and create an opening for the attack. Keep attacking whenever she gets staggered; do not be scared of getting hit. Her bouncing attack may drain your Sha-Chi if you do not evade it; however, you can restore your health with the help of lifesteal from your weapon.

After some time, she will disappear, and you will have to fight the serpents, which will appear from both sides of the battlefield. Run up to them and defeat them with light attacks. Try to get close to the spawn points of the serpents.

Once you have managed to handle the serpents, the Lady of the Twin Serpents will reappear and charge at you thrice. Parry her incoming charges, but be careful of the red flash attack that comes right after. Once she jumps into the air, you have to dodge away from the attack. You don’t have to be very precise about this, so pressing the dodge button twice is more convenient.

She will do this again, so you need to be prepared to deal with the serpents once again as she vanishes from your sight. You should try to stay near the spawn locations of the serpents to kill them in the most efficient way possible. The last stage of the encounter is where she stays staggered for a longer time. This will give you enough time to get several hits on her before killing her. You have to parry constantly while getting rid of the summoned serpents and dodging her red flash attack.
