The first part of the Garden for the Dead is meeting Astrid at Noatun’s Garden, where a cutscene will play. Then, you will need to clear the poison totems from the area.

You will need to look for these totems. There are three of them, and one you have destroyed them you will be able to complete the Garden for the Dead quest.

The first poison totem is behind Astrid in a gap in the wall. You will need to throw your axe into the explosive pots there in order to destroy it. You can find the second one in the northeast, where you can hit another explosive pot. It is just underneath the debris, and you will need to find a decent angle to take the shot.

There is a third totem which is the last one. It is in the southern direction, so you will need to make your way there until you come across a pond. Next to it, there is a wall that you can climb up. You will just need to face west for it. Once you are up there, you will need to look in the northeastern direction to see a white vase. Hit it with your axe, and that will destroy the poison totem inside.

Now, you just need to return to Astrid to finish the quest Garden for the Dead.
