Resident Evil 4, or the remake, has nine or ten bosses, depending on whether you count the Regenerator fight as a boss fight. The Armored Troll is the 4th boss in the game and easier to beat than the previous boss. The objective, or the secret to beating the boss, is to get the right weapon on the platform to shoot it. The path to the weapon, however, can be confusing, so we will show you how to beat the armored troll in the RE4 remake.
Armored Troll Boss Fight Resident Evil 4 Remake (RE4)
When you encounter the armored troll, you will be able to see it across on the fort. The armored troll has one attack that’s easy to dodge if you are careful. It will continuously throw boulders of rock at you. Getting hit with two such shots will end your run. However, the entire area has a sufficient cover, so you don’t get hit.

You need to follow the yellow markers of the game and cut down levers so you can bring up the cannon and shoot the troll with it. Here is the entire process of getting it done with images to help you.
- Go down and follow the path as shown in the below image.
- Keep following the path into the fort. Jump down when the path ends. You will find two enemies when you jump down. The door in your path will be locked. Go through the door on the other side and enter the fort, as shown in the image below.
- Put the level inside the room, and it will open a door. Through the door, jump down to the bottom floor and take the stairs shown in the below image.
- After climbing the stairs, take a right turn and keep heading into the building until you see a cannon. Next to the cannon, you will see some stones in a sack tied to a chain. It’s highlighted in yellow, and you cannot miss it. Cut down the chain, and the cannon will start to go up. At this point, few enemies will spawn. Once you have taken care of the enemies, look to the left from where you cut the chains, and you will find stairs leading to the upper floor.
- Once up, look around and repeat the same process as below. Cut down the chain allowing the cannon to go up.
- Next, take the flight of stairs from the room and go to the topmost floor of the building, and you will be able to see the cannon. You can now interact with the cannon, point it at the armored troll, and take it out. Just one shot from the cannon will down the armored troll.
- Once the armored troll is killed, point the cannon to the below door and blow it to clear the path.

This is how to beat the armored troll in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Do note that throughout the mission, the troll will be throwing stone boulders at you. After each throw, there is a cooldown you can use to move through the fort and get the cannon to the top floor.
