Throne and Liberty’s second co-op dungeon, Roaring Temple, will be accessible to players who have reached level 30. Teams will need to work together to break down barriers and solve straightforward puzzles before confronting the dungeon’s final boss. However, if players aren’t familiar with the mechanics beforehand, King Chimaerus can be a real challenge for an unprepared party. This dungeon guide will be helpful, providing all the information players need to breeze through it.
Roaring Temple Dungeon in Throne and Liberty
The Roarin Temple is a Dimensional Circle Dungeon that requires a minimum of 900 Gearscore to enter, so players should consider various ways to improve their gear before diving in. The temple is divided into seven sections: the entrance and first barrier, followed by the first pit, where you’ll find the first Mana Fluid Regulator and the second barrier.
Next is the second pit, home to the second Mana Fluid Regulator and the third barrier. After that, you’ll face the fourth barrier and your first boss encounter. Then comes the checkpoint and the flame pillar section, leading to the second boss encounter and the final barrier. Finally, you’ll reach the Arena for the ultimate boss battle.
How to Beat King Chimaerus in Throne and Liberty
When players reach the deepest part of the Roaring Temple, they’ll find themselves in a circular arena where King Chimaerus awaits. They should notice the chains surrounding the arena, which they can grapple onto later. With that in mind, let’s go over some key details.
Key Mechanics of King Chimaerus Encounter
- Instead of warning players with vocal cues, King Chimaerus will display a cryptic ancient text above his head when he’s about to unleash a powerful attack.
- King Chimaerus will randomly target players with a petrification gaze, which can’t be avoided. Other players need to quickly position themselves in front of the targeted player to block Chimaerus’s fireballs, or those fireballs could be lethal. Each fireball inflicts 33.3% of a player’s health as damage, but blocking it can significantly reduce the impact. If players notice a teammate getting paralyzed, they should immediately jump in front of them to provide protection.
- King Chimaerus’s Elemental Roar can only be interrupted by using the chains around the arena to drop Mana Fluid. Players need to use their grappling hooks to activate these chains and stun the boss.
- Avoid stepping into the poison, as it will apply a debuff that stacks throughout the encounter and inflicts significant damage.
Attacks of King Chimaerus
Below are the different types of attacks you can expect from King Chimaerus:
Attack | Description |
Pounce attack | During the encounter, the boss will leap forward and slash at a random player. If tanks don’t maintain aggro, this can be deadly for squishier DPS and healers. |
Spit attack | Chimaerus will spit out three pools of acid or poison. These attacks can’t be blocked, so players need to dodge them. |
Petrifying Gaze | Chimaerus will target a player and channel briefly before stunning them after a few seconds. Once the player is stunned, Chimaerus will follow up with its Fire Ball attack. |
Fire Ball | Chimaerus will focus on petrified players and launch three fireballs at them. If other players don’t step in to block these fireballs, the targeted player will be killed. |
Elemental Roar | Chimaerus will leap to the center of the arena and begin to roar, creating an area-of-effect attack that inflicts both fire and poison damage on all players. To stop this from happening, players need to stun the boss while it’s channeling. |
