The bots in the game are an improvement on previous releases from Illfonic, but they are still not as good as playing with a human friend. If no one is playing the role of a Ghostbuster or a Ghost, then AI bots will automatically fill those positions.

Whenever you play offline, the game will automatically switch into Skirmish Mode. In this mode, all the game’s content will be unlocked, but your statistics and story progress will not be saved. So if you’re playing online with friends or strangers, not only will you be able to customize your character with unlockables, but you’ll also be able to watch story cutscenes.
