The Fortnite servers have been down since May 10th, 2022 and players are heavily reporting the same. The error code “esp-buimet-003” is being shown in the game. Let’s discuss the error a little bit and we will also tell you, how to fix this particular “esp-built-003” error in Fortnite.

The error code “esp-buimet-003” suddenly started popping up before players on the morning of May 10, 2022. This apparently happened just before the release of some new batch of content for Chapter 3 Season 3 was expected to happen. Hence, this has led players to believe that the Fortnite “esp-buimet-003” error code is somehow related to server/network issues.

Epix games have already addressed the issue online but there’s no sign of an official fix yet.  But there are a few things you can try out yourself in order to fix this issue.

How to Fix Fortnite Error Code esp-buimet-003

This error is mostly affecting the Console players hence there’s not much you can actually do on your own. Below are a few steps you can follow to fix the Fortnite “esp-buimet-003” error code.

Check Servers and Switch DNS

Your Internet Service Provider usually assigns default DNS addresses that work seamlessly for most users. However, these servers can go down or inadvertently block connections to specific game servers, triggering errors on the Epic Games Store. One effective solution is to switch to more reliable and widely-used DNS servers, such as Google’s (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

To change your DNS settings on PlayStation:

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select Network.
  3. Choose Set Up Internet Connection.
  4. Opt for either Wi-Fi or LAN, depending on your connection.
  5. Select Custom and enter the preferred DNS addresses.

Power cycle your console once:

You can power cycle your console by holding down the power button and unplugging it. Then you have to wait for 2 minutes before restarting your console.

Remove and Re-Add your accounts:

You can remove your accounts by signing out of them and then removing them from the console. After you have successfully removed the accounts, you can sign in again through the sign-in page of your console and re-add your accounts from there.

Clear all the local game saves and persistent storage:

  • If you are on XBOX, you can go to the “Clear Local Saved Games” option in the Storage Settings and then the “Clear Persistent Storage” option in the Disc & Blue-Ray Settings.
  • If you are on Playstation, you have to go to the Save Data and Game/App Settings. Here you have to delete the specific files related to Fortnite which will clear out the junk data for you.

Releasing and Renewing IP, Resetting Winsock, and Flushing DNS

Network protocols can become corrupted, leading to connectivity problems. To address this, follow these steps:

  1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
  2. Run the following commands one by one:
    • ipconfig /release
    • ipconfig /renew
    • ipconfig /flushdns
    • ipconfig /registerdns
    • netsh winsock reset

Run Epic Games as an Administrator

Sometimes, the Epic Games launcher requires administrative privileges to function correctly. Right-click on the Epic Games launcher icon and select “Run as Administrator.” This ensures that the launcher has the necessary permissions to establish a stable connection with the game servers.

As mentioned earlier that Epic Games has already acknowledged the issue and is actively working on a fix. If the above tips don’t work for you then you have to wait for the official fix from Epic Games to arrive.
