Connection problem with Dead by Daylight (DBD) is fairly common and there are a lot of error codes to keep track of. However, the Dead by Daylight Connection Error 8001 occurs specifically on the Xbox Series X. If you get the error once, you won’t be able to shake it off even after a restart of the game or the console. Even reinstalling the game does not help and you get the error again. As such, you must be wondering if there is a problem with the game servers or the Xbox Game Services. Fortunately, there is nothing wrong with the game and there is a simple solution that will allow you to get back in DBD.

The Dead by Daylight Xbox Series X Connection Error 8001 occurs due to bad cache stored on the Xbox. You will not be able to play the game as the cache is glitching and preventing your connection. The solution is simple, you need to remove the bad cache.

You can try clearing the cache from the Reset and Keep my Games & Apps option or you can simply hard reset the console.

To hard reset the console, press and hold the power button until the console turns down. Now remove the power cord and wait for 30 seconds, reconnect and start the console. You should not be able to play the game.  

You may be also seeing the error when the Xbox Live Services are down. As such, follow the link and check to verify if there is a problem with the Xbox services. If the Xbox services are fine, visit the DBD Twitter handle and see if there is a downtime scheduled for the game servers.

If it’s a server problem, there is nothing you can do on your end other than waiting for the develops to fix the issue on their end. Usually, it does not take more than a few hours for server problems to be resolved.
