Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sold more copies and saw more players jump to play the game on day-one than any other title, but there have been reports of the game stuttering and crashing on the next-gen consoles, especially the Xbox Series X|S. However, players on PS4 and Xbox One also have been complaining of similar issues. The recent problem that’s emerged is the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla screen tearing. The issue has been happening on almost all devices except probably the PS5. But, PS5 also has a range of other issues. Stick around and we will help you resolve the screen tearing issue in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Fix Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Screen Tearing
A number of players have taken to Twitter and Reddit to lodge their complain about the inefficiency of the next-gen Xbox Series X in playing the new Assassin’s Creed title. The screen tearing issue with the game has been happening with PS4 and Xbox One besides the Series X consoles. Players who enabled the variable refresh rate (VRR) and Vsync saw reduced screen tearing and a slight improvement in the game’s performance.
However, the only permanent fix for the issue would come from Ubisoft. We hope that the developers would release a patch that resolves a range of performance issue with the game on all devices. So, far the PS5 seems to be the only console with minimal problems running the game.
Troubleshooting performance problems with a game is always difficult because of the variation in system settings and the devices used by players. With the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla screen tearing, it seems that players who ran the game on a display that does not support the VRR faced the issue. If your monitor or display does not support try playing the game with VRR disabled and the problem should not appear. Similarly, if the VRR is supported on the display, turn the option on from the game settings. The solution may seem to simple, but it has worked for a lot of players as reported by them on the Ubisoft forum.
Lowering the FPS/HZ of the game should also work to resolve the screen tearing issue. To start off, we suggest you try playing the game at 30 refresh rate or frame rate and if the issue resolves, increase it to 60. There have been reports that you can easily play the game on Xbox Series X without issue at 60hz. Although the console supports greater frame rate, by limiting it to 60hz, you are essentially playing at 60FPS and that seems to resolve the issue.
Finally, if nothing has worked, you will have to wait for a patch from Ubisoft, which should not be long as it’s already been a several days since the release of the game. Watch Dogs Legion also received an update that fixed a lot of issue around 5-6 days from the release of the game. Even though the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla screen tearing may be fixed with a few tweaks, playing the game at 60 FPS is not ideal and there is definitely a problem with the game that the developers need to address.
That’s all we have in this guide, we hope the post has been helpful. Let us know in the comments if you have a better solution.
