To Walk Where Spirits Tread is a seasonally locked story quest within Season 9 of Diablo 4, achieved after finishing Keepers of the Glen and being at Tier 4 of the seasonal reputation track. The quest further explores seasonal lore as you help Bryona discover the source of corruption that afflicts Sanctuary through adherence to sacred rituals and the lead of an enigmatic Wolf Spirit.
Beginning the Quest

First, go talk to Bryona in Cerrigar. She will send you east to a ritual location on your map. If the quest doesn’t auto track, be sure to manually choose it from your journal.
After the Wolf Spirit
At the specified location, engage with the Shrine of Sacrifice to activate the Rite of Sacrifice. Successfully completing this calls forth a Wolf Spirit that acts as your guide. Stick with it as it guides you through the area.
Later on, the spirit will come to a halt and you will be attacked by a pack of demons. Destroy them to proceed.
Conducting the Rites
After the first encounter, you’ll be led to the Shrine of Resolve. Activate it to begin the next phase, known as the Rite of Resolve. Once again, follow the spirit to a new combat encounter. Slay the enemies and proceed to the third ritual location.
The last shrine, the Shrine of Reflection, is connected to the Rite of Reflection. After finishing it, the Wolf Spirit takes you to an area close to Tur Dulra, the most important stronghold of Scosglen.
Clearing Tur Dulra (If Necessary)

Moving beyond this point necessitates that you complete the Tur Dulra Stronghold. If you haven’t already, this is the moment. It’s the only way to progress to the next area. Once you clear the stronghold, head back to the quest marker southeast of Tur Dulra to proceed.
Venturing into the Oaken Cavern
Your path then leads you into the Oaken Cavern, where the lore of the quest is at its peak. There, speak with statues known as the Statues of the Blood Eater, and be prepared for multiple waves of combat. These battles serve to reveal the relationship between Astaroth’s Blood and the terror that is sprouting throughout Sanctuary.
As you roam, you’ll receive whispered messages from Astaroth providing creepy insight into the undercurrents of the season. Listen carefully and take time to soak in the environment and lore as this primes what’s next.
Getting Back to Cerrigar

After the cavern has been fully explored and the rituals have been finished, head back to Cerrigar and talk with Bryona once more to finish the quest.
Completing To Walk Where Spirits Tread opens the following seasonal story step: Reopening the Wound, after you’ve reached Tier 5 of the seasonal reputation. The next phase takes you into new regions such as The Scar, and keeps you engaging with the mystery unfolding of Season 9’s narrative.
This quest focuses less on complex puzzles or boss fights and more on narrative immersion and ritual-based progression. As long as you’ve completed the Tur Dulra Stronghold, it’s a smooth experience. Keep following the Wolf Spirit, perform each rite, and you’ll uncover key truths about the blood magic corrupting the land—and set the stage for even more dangerous confrontations ahead.
