In Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, game players are thrown into a vast and open-ended campaign style, with Guardians encouraged to venture into Kepler at their leisure. One of the primary questlines early on in this expansion is Exile’s Accord: Strangelet, and it doubles as both a narrative advancement mechanism and an intro to Kepler’s traversal mechanics—most importantly, the Relocator cannon.

Once you have finished the Saturnism mission, you’ll gain access to The Gouge, a combat-centric sequel mission featuring an environmental puzzle and a multi-phase boss fight. This walkthrough will detail all that you need to know to successfully complete The Gouge, including solving the Relocator puzzle and managing the Exile Prime Servitor boss battle.

Getting Started: Accessing The Gouge

If you’ve already completed Saturnism, you’ll find that The Gouge is a direct continuation and becomes available on your quest log. There’s no elaborate preamble or hidden entrance this time—just activate the mission node and dive in. However, don’t let the simple start fool you. The mission quickly ramps up in complexity.

Before you can see the boss, you will have a Relocator puzzle with a line of laser mines. The task here is to turn off these traps with the ricochet mechanic learned in the previous mission.

To complete this segment:

  • Find the adjacent satellite node and fire at it twice with your gun. That alters its position and redirects the projectile.
  • Next, fire through the altered satellite trajectory using the Relocator cannon.
  • If properly executed, the projectile will ricochet through the laser beam and destroy the traps so you can move on.

This is a warm-up for the challenges that follow.

First Encounter: Handling the Invulnerable Servitor

Directly after the puzzle, you’ll encounter your first major challenge—a room with a large Servitor covered by a generator. The most important mechanism here is positional separation.

To render the Servitor vulnerable:

  • Lure the Servitor into a nearby airlock chamber.
  • While it’s in the airlock, rapidly proceed to the other room where the generator is housed.
  • After the Servitor and its generator are physically separated, the shield will temporarily fall and you can attack.
  • Don’t waste this damage window, as the Servitor will revert back to the generator if not controlled accordingly. After destroyed, a door leads to the final battle.

Boss Fight: Giver’s Bounty – Exile Prime Servitor

The final fight of The Gouge mission is a three-stage battle against the Exile Prime Servitor, a massive robotic foe that combines damage checks with movement mechanics.

Phase One: Damage and Setup

The battle starts with the Servitor suspended in the middle of a large arena, totally exposed. This is the time to inflict precision damage. Linear fusion rifles, sniper rifles, or precision-dominant builds are best suited for this stage. Killing about one-third of its life will activate the next sequence.

Phase Two: Relocator and Lockdown

Once the initial damage phase, a Relocator cannon will spawn. Take this to open up a restricted area behind the Servitor.

In order to open the teleport pad:

  • Turn around to face the right wall of the arena, where there are some floating satellites in position.
  • Be cautious and ricochet your Relocator shot off the satellites to hit a far-off plate.
  • This will fire up a teleporter, taking you behind the Servitor.

Once teleported, you’ll find a Servitor miniboss guarding the lockdown control. Defeat this miniboss to lift the field and return to the arena for another DPS phase.

Phase Three: Repeat and Finish

The fight then follows the same structure. Deal another third of the boss’s health, activate the next Relocator, and disable the final lockdown. After defeating the last Servitor miniboss, return and finish off Exile Prime.

Mission Completion and Return to Kepler

After you’ve defeated the Exile Prime Servitor, your mission will be complete. You will be asked to head back to the Kepler hub and further progress the Exile’s Accord questline. Finishing up The Gouge is an important step in learning the destination’s mechanics as well as having access to more late-game content.
