The Edge of Fate Destiny 2 expansion has cryptic quests and hidden objectives, and Dark Academia is one such more mysterious side-quest. You as a player will find yourself inside a locked room with no visible means of escape, which causes some annoyance—especially if steps appear bugged or unclear.
This walkthrough leads you through the unlocking of the secret door inside Augur’s Bethel, the completion of the Dark Academia quest-line, and the correction of any bugs preventing completion.
How to Open the Dark Academia Door
Within Augur’s Bethel, upon entering, players will see a locked door with a shielded pylon nearby. To open it, locate and destroy three blue energy fuses throughout the room. The weapon used to blast them out does not matter, and below are the three locations of the fuses:
- Fuse 1: Facing the Dark Academia door, turn right and go down the ramp. Inside a nearby vent shaft, you’ll see the fuse—shoot it to destroy it.
- Fuse 2: Jump up to the second floor and locate the Mattermorph pickup. Carry it across the pipes back to the first floor. You’ll find a wall panel that can be opened using the Mattermorph. Inside is the second fuse.
- Fuse 3: With Mattermorph still enabled, cross over one more pipe and head right up the top platform. Locate a pipe which will break open with the Mattermorph to reveal the third fuse in there on the right.
Because all three fuses are destroyed, you’ll need to energize the shielded door through Matterspark. Matterspark can be located in a position over the train or above the second floor on the pipe flooring. With power activated, return to the locked door and shock it open.
There is a glowing orb within the newly opened room. Interact with it and enable Ikora’s side quest and initiate the Dark Academia mission.
How to Complete the Dark Academia Quest
The moment the quest begins, it goes on in three easy steps:
- Take the Aionian Device: The golden orb that is on the floor is done automatically by interaction for step one.
- Scan the Remains: Look down at the floor close by to interact with the remains and complete this task.
- Examine the Shrine: Head to the left rear of the room and examine the shrine to complete the final task.
Troubleshooting the Bugged Quest Step
Some players may encounter a bug where these objectives don’t activate properly. If the quest does not progress after interacting with the orb, you’ll need to advance further in the main story of The Edge of Fate. Completing a nearby campaign mission—such as “Charge”—often resolves this issue. Once you’ve done so, return to Augur’s Bethel and reattempt the interactions. The objectives should now register properly.
