There are a ton of objectives in the Castle Puzzle in Blue Prince. Handling them all together can be overwhelming, but taking care of those objectives one at a time can be helpful and make this meticulous puzzle reasonably easy to solve.

You must head to the Chess Chamber to find this puzzle. With Power Hammer, you can smash through the walls to reveal a cipher along the lines of “C-A-S-T-L-E”. Now, there are gaps between these letters that are vertically arranged, so you must search for clues in the same order to understand what these segments mean.

There are certain hints you can find only in specific areas such as the Classroom. After gathering these clues, you’ll have to solve a Chess Puzzle, followed by a series of Mora Jai color boxes. To finally solve this puzzle in Blue Prince, you’ll need to reach a particular area and solve the final part of this puzzle with the help of the clues you’ve collected so far and unlock the rewards that await.

Collecting Clues for the Castle Puzzle in Blue Prince

You must search for clues in various rooms in order to solve the Castle Puzzle in Blue Prince. There will be letters arranged vertically, which you can look for in a few places:

  • Over the shelf in the Kennel.
  • Inside the lockers in the locker room.
  • You might notice a fake passport in the Deposit Box inside the Vault.
  • In the secret passage beside the shelf.
  • Beside the statue in Cloister.

It’s time to draft the Schoolhouse, as there are specific hints you can only find within the classroom. Drafting the Schoolhouse in the outer room will allow you to place extra classrooms in the manor. Some crucial hints can be found as you run through more advanced grades.

  • Grade 4 Classroom: Look at the lower-right corner of the Moraven Map with a magnifying glass.
  • Grade 8 Classroom: Search for the Erajan translations on the test papers.

Using the Chess Puzzle to Move Forward

You need to head down to the Underground to complete this part of the puzzle. This puzzle can be solved with a move called the Castling in Chess. This involves the Rook changing position with the King in order to give it a better defensive position during the game. However, Blue Prince has a different kind of Castling that involves powers. You must have the Rook and King power to perform this move.

  • Select the Rook power and complete the level before selecting the King power, and complete this the whole other day.
  • However, vice-versa can be done as well, where you choose the King power first, then complete the thing with Rook powers on another day.
  • If you’ve both the powers active, then just complete the puzzle with either of the counterparts.

What happens if you choose the power of another piece, such as the Knight? Then you’ll have to do a few more runs and change to the King or the Rook.

After this part is completed, a new passage will be unlocked, and more puzzles will be waiting for you!

Eight Mora Jai Colour Boxes

After solving all these, most of the Castle Puzzle in Blue Prince is already solved. However, there are more elements to this puzzle for you to solve it entirely and get a reward for all your efforts so far! Eight Mora Jai colour boxes contain a riddle in them.

Those eight riddles go as follows:

  1. “In Aries Court where the king now lays”
  2. “On the Sacred Hour that timeworn phase”
  3. “Will a youth approach with empty arms”
  4. “Without gifts nor gold nor mannered charms”
  5. “And in the sky above a brilliant sign”
  6. “A sullen cross as five stars align”
  7. “A patient figure, a reckoning great”
  8. “The Black Key is lying with the last king of eight”

Meaning of the Riddles for the Castle Puzzle in Blue Prince

All the riddles will lead you to a place where you’ll find yourself. However, there are a few prerequisites for this part that you must be aware of in order to get past this phase.

“Empty arms” and “without gifts”

This riddle means that you must approach this area without anything in your inventory. Not a single item or resource should be there with you. Start a new run and follow the instructions mentioned below:

  • Pick up your gold allowance later.
  • Avoid picking up any tool or item whatsoever.
  • You’ll have 2 gems with you from the mine, but you must enter rooms that cost gems until you’ve run out of them.

“Sky above” and “sullen cross/five stars”

This riddle points towards the Southern Cross constellation. You have to head to the Observatory and interact with the telescope to find the Southern Cross constellation active.

  • The cost of drafting the Observatory is 1 gem, so you can spend a gem on this.
  • If you’ve 5, 9, 13, 16, 25, or so on stars, then the Southern Cross constellation becomes active.
  • With 50 or 100 stars, new constellations are unlocked. Blue Prince counts the remaining number of stars and decides upon the constellations you’ll receive. For example, if you’ve 55 stars, then you’ll get the Inkwell and Southern Cross constellations.

“On the Sacred Hour that timeworn phase”

After running through the manor for a reasonable amount of time, you’ll realize that the sacred hour in this game is 1:30 pm. You must arrive at the location you’ve unlocked before the said time.

  • A new day in the game starts at 8:00 am. It’ll take you around 5-8 minutes in real life for an hour to pass in the game.
  • The game time can be checked by looking at the Clock Tower outside the manor.
  • Make sure you’ve drafted the Observatory and that the Southern Cross is active. Also, keep in mind that you must drop all your items before entering the Underground.

Solving the Clock Mechanism

Once you have ensured that the Southern Cross is active and you’re not carrying any items, gems, keys, or gold in your inventory, move towards the next step. Head past the Chess Puzzle towards the Crypt Chamber.

A tomb will rise at 1:30 pm in-game, and you can see a giant clock attached to it. You can adjust the time of this clock by moving the minutes hand clockwise or counterclockwise.

Remember the Classroom map and Erajan words? All the clues in this part will come from those two elements as Erajan words are used in the cipher. If everything is done correctly, you’ll be left with these letters:

  • C – I – X
  • A – D – D
  • S – I – X
  • T – O – R
  • L – O – R
  • E – T – T

The Final Solution to the Castle Puzzle in Blue Prince

After solving the previous part, you get those words that seem like nothing more than a random combination of letters. What do they even mean in the first place? Here’s a breakdown of those letters formed by the Blue Prince Castle Cipher:

  • “CIX” means 109 in Roman numerals.
  • “ADD SIX” is quite simple as you just add six to 109.
  • When “TOR” is reversed in the map, you’ll get “ROT”.
  • “TOR LOR ETT” is telling you to head east in a counterclockwise manner.

The practical application of those hints should be used to solve the clock puzzle. To start the puzzle, move the hands of the clock to resemble the time “109” or 01:09. After this, follow the instructions given below to solve the puzzle:

  • To “ADD SIX” to the current time, move the minute hand six times in a counterclockwise manner to add value. The time will now show 01:15.
  • Now, move the minute hand in the opposite direction (counter-clockwise) until it gets over the word “EAST.” The time would now show 12:26.

And that’s pretty much it! All your brainstorming and efforts will be rewarded. A tiny compartment will open, presenting you with the Key of Aries, which is going to be another crucial element for a riddle later in Blue Prince.
