In the Origin of the Ringing quest in Beast of Reincarnation, there are three celestial pyres that need to be lit in a certain order before you can proceed. There is a clue in the game, but it is not too helpful, making this one of the more interesting environmental puzzles in the early stages of the game. If you don’t know which torch comes first or what to do once you’ve made it to the bell chamber, this guide will tell you the correct order to light the torches, find the clue, and what to do after continuing on your quest toward the Nushi.

Origin of Ringing Overview

In the Origin of the Ringing, you will reach a point where there is a big chamber with a giant bell with three mysterious fire pyres. Although the objective simply tells you to light the fires correctly, neither the game nor the nearby NPC gives away the answer outright. First, you have to solve a riddle hidden somewhere in the room to continue toward the area’s Nushi.

Where the Answer Is Hidden

The setting of the puzzle is the Mountainous Region: Pilgrim’s Zone. As you uncover and search through the place, you will arrive at the room filled with a giant statue, a suspended bell, a big brazier, and three small fire altars.

In the middle of this hall, a Rusted Golem indicates that the flames should be lit “in the correct order” but does not specify the order.

For the actual solution, check the document called Light the Pyres near the statue. The last line tells you to light the heavenly bodies in the order they were created. In this case, it means that the sun occurred first, and then the Earth and the moon.

For successful puzzle completion, the pyres sequence should be maintained in the following order:

1. Sun

2. Earth

3. Moon

In case you want to follow the pyre placement instead of their symbols, just start with the one placed the farthest from the statue, then take the one closest to the statue, and finish with the remaining middle pyre.

By following this sequence of igniting the pyres, all three flames will burn and ignite the big brazier in the center. Using the wrong order will lead to extinguishing the flames and requiring you to start the sequence again.

Reaching the Bell

When you solve the fire puzzle, that is only a small part of the process. After the main brazier has been lit, you will still need to ring the bell to get the story moving forward.

Take the lift located behind the giant statue to get to the top of the belfry. Move through this area until you reach the Belfry Interior camp. After that, get to the building nearby and use Emma’s mobility ability to reach the higher platform leading to the bell.

There are some golems wandering around the area, so make sure to defeat them before you go any further. You can still light the camp located nearby and explore the area around for extra materials or shortcuts before interacting with the bell.

Completing Origin of the Ringing

The quest Origin of the Ringing reaches its conclusion upon your successful striking of the bell. Its bell’s chime unveils a route deeper into the region that provides an opportunity of moving towards the Nushi encounter and allows the main storyline to continue.
