All Ancient Knowledge Locations
There are a total of eight Ancient Knowledge locations in Of Ash and Steel; here’s an easy breakdown that covers all eight:
Ancient Knowledge 1

The first Ancient Knowledge is located inside a small cave. What you will need to do is move through the cave until you reach the last room. Upon opening the door, some enemies might attack you but they’re easy to take care of. Once you’ve dealt with them, go ahead and acquire your first Ancient Knowledge—Dectat’s Tongue.
Ancient Knowledge 2

To acquire the second Ancient Knowledge, head to the location shown in the map image above. There, you’ll come across a huge red brick house. Go inside, take left, and take the stairs that lead you down to reach the second Ancient Knowledge which is Ukufa’s Wisdom. Remember that you don’t have to complete any additional quests in order to collect this.
Ancient Knowledge 3

To get the third Ancient Knowledge, you’ll have to head over a little above the Campsite area. There, you’ll come across a house that’s quite similar to the one where you got the second Ancient Knowledge from. Go inside, take right, and head upstairs to reach a room whose floor is all broken down. You’ll see that there’s a door at the right side of the room, be careful and jump to get there. After that, keep to your right, and you’ll eventually come across a room that has the third Ancient Knowledge—Kripte’s Heart.
Ancient Knowledge 4

In order to get the fourth Ancient Knowledge, you will have to head to the library that comes right after the Bountiful Quarter. This one is pretty easy to acquire; you simply need to go inside the library, and you’ll find the fourth Ancient Knowledge, Rho’s Beacon right in front of you.
Ancient Knowledge 5

To get the fifth Ancient Knowledge, you’ll need to progress through the main mission. This is how you could go: first, start The Swamp quest and report to Godrank in the city. After that, you’ll need to go and report to King Ratwald and exit from the main entrance to find Darsi. Engage with Darsi and then take right until you reach a door, interact with it and you’ll get jailed in Boorma Prison, but don’t worry, this is part of the quest.

Inside the prison, move carefully and save frequently to not get stuck. What you need to do is lead the NPCs until you find a way to escape the prison via teleportation. Then finally, visit the council in the Bountiful Quarter and proceed to the library in order to collect the fifth Ancient Knowledge.
Ancient Knowledge 6

To get the sixth Ancient Knowledge, head over to the location shown in the map image above and you’ll come across a huge red brick house, similar to the ones you saw when you were looking for the second and third Ancient Knowledge. Go inside and take left, you’ll come across a room with a sort of altar with multiple candles scattered around the room.

What you’ll need to do is get the directions (you’ll find it in the room itself) for lighting the candles accordingly and then head out using the exit at your left. Outside, to your left, you’ll come across an entrance that leads you to an underground cave sort of area where you’ll find the Ancient Knowledge, Strength of the One.
Ancient Knowledge 7

To get the seventh Ancient Knowledge, you’ll need to start at the location shown in the map image above. You’ll start near a big tree, take right from there and you’ll come across a flight of stairs that’ll lead you to an area with a waterfall. Take another right from there and go inside the cave-like structure, keep to your left and you’ll eventually come across the Ancient Knowledge, Orra’s Embrace.
Ancient Knowledge 8

To acquire the eighth Ancient Knowledge, you’ll need to head towards the Frozen Valley and start the quest, Icy Ridge. Head to the cave on your right and you’ll come across a corpse that you’ll need to interact with and then head to the bottom right location of the map.

Navigate through the area keeping to your right and you’ll come across another corpse. From there, keep to your left, jump on top of the rocky formations and keep going until you come across the Ancient Knowledge, Takut’s Surge.
