Wraithstones are among the rarest and most coveted collectables within Doom: The Dark Ages, which are key to unlocking your weapon’s final upgrades, Shield Saw, and melee attacks. This is a guide to all Wraithstone locations in the game and the conditions under which they can be obtained.
What Are Wraithstones in Doom: The Dark Ages?
Wraithstones are glowing purple stones that reside in ornate statues. Some are obtainable by simple exploration, but many are behind environmental puzzles, usually involving Wolf Statues that will need to be destroyed before the Wraithstone’s shield drops.
You can exchange Wraithstones at Sentinel Shrines to get late-game upgrades. The upgrades can highly improve your fight mode and are highly beneficial during the second half of the game.
- Gold: Common currency.
- Rubies: Semi-rare, frequently located in secrets.
- Wraithstones: Rare and used for endgame upgrades.
Location of Wraithstones
Chapter 9 – Ancestral Forge
The initial Wraithstone is available in Chapter 9, and solving a Wolf Statue puzzle is needed. Midway through Ancestral Forge.

Find and destroy all of the Wolf Statues around you. After they are destroyed, the statue containing the Wraithstone will be accessible. Mark the Wolf Statues on the map below as you find them to prevent backtracking.
Chapter 10 – The Forsake Plains
This Wraithstone is more readily obtainable but requires traversal of the principal narrative path. It can be located on the main goal path.
Travel into the highlighted combat arena and eliminate every foe to raise the barrier shielded by the Wraithstone. Avoid attempting a bypass through the closed flesh door, only when the door opens in the appropriate position in the story.
Chapter 12 – Sentinel Command Station
The Chapter 12 Wraithstone is more subtle and requires both a secret key and a secret door behind a locked door in the command centre.

First, find the Secret Key and open the secret door indicated on the map using the key. Inside, clear out the room of hostiles to obtain the Wraithstone. The ventilator shafts in the Life Sigil room offer the fastest route to the hidden area.
Chapter 14 – Spire of Nerathul
This chapter introduces air exploration, so you’ll have to learn how to fly the Slayer’s dragon to find these Wraithstones.
Wraithstone 1: The Drained Cliffside
After the dragon is available, fly to the eastern border of the map where a drained part of the landscape exists. Search for a Titan demon that’s standing over a peculiar platform. Kill the Titan to unlock a landing area nearby.
Land and finish the combat engagement in the arena. After clearing, the Wraithstone will be found on a pedestal. The Titan is greatly armoured and applies significant AoE damage. Bring lightning-empowered weapons for stagger potential.
Wraithstone 2: The Outer Ring Pillar
Fly high and find the huge stone pillar that lies on the outer ring of the Spire’s circular arena. As you approach, another Titan demon will spawn. Defeat it to open up a secret landing area.

Once on foot, battle a wave of demons. When the red energy shield drops, you can safely grab the Wraithstone from the unsealed statue. Use mid-air dash boosts while flying to explore hard-to-see ledges—there’s also a hidden Ruby nearby!
Chapter 15 – City of Ry’uul
This is one of the few chapters where a Wraithstone requires no puzzle solving or hidden routes. As you follow the main quest path, you’ll eventually reach a broad courtyard area filled with Hell growths.
The Wraithstone is tucked into a recessed alcove, glowing purple next to a broken fountain. You’ll be walking past this area naturally, but if you miss it in combat, head back before advancing to the next gate.
Chapter 16 – Kar’Thul Marshes
Similar to Ancestral Forge, this area’s Wraithstone is behind a Wolf Statue puzzle. Start by finding and destroying all the Wolf Statues that are littered around the marsh.

When destroyed, the energy shield around the Wraithstone statue will break. Go to the northwestern corner of the map to pick it up. Some statues are covered in dense fog. Highlight interactive objects with your Pulse Vision ability.
Chapter 17 – Temple of Lomarith
This Wraithstone is one of the more challenging to reach—it involves a dimensional shift and an ambush by Hell Knights. Make your way through the eastern corridor of the Temple until you discover a broken wall beside a sigil-marked torch. Break through to gain access to a distorted version of the temple.
Swim through the corridor filled with lava, then fight several Hell Knights in a tight combat area. After being defeated, you’ll warp back automatically—this time in front of the Wraithstone. Fire resistance is beneficial here. Wear the Phoenix Core to minimise lava damage during the swim.
Chapter 19 – Harbor of Souls
The Wraithstone is found inside a tower building that you climb as part of the main game. Play through the chapter until you find yourself in front of a tower which you must climb. At the bottom of this tower, find a wall which can be smashed using your Shield Charge ability. Once you’ve broken through the wall, you’ll see a blue gear symbol.
Toss your shield into this gear to activate a mechanism. The mechanism will make a column rise in the middle of the tower. Climb onto this column and ride it up. At the top of the column, you’ll be able to see the Wraithstone sitting on a platform, waiting to be picked up.
Chapter 20 – Resurrection
Another Wolf Statue puzzle chapter, this Wraithstone is cleverly hidden behind some hostile demon clusters. Destroy and search four Wolf Statues surrounding the central mausoleum.

Once the last statue is broken, the Wraithstone’s protective shield disappears. Go to the southwest wing of the mausoleum to retrieve it. Be careful around Revenants defending the fourth Wolf Statue—they spawn in as an unexpected wave after you break the third.
Chapter 22 – Reckoning
The final Wraithstone in the game is your ultimate test of discovery—and it’s behind a Secret Key door. As you approach Ahzak’s ship, a massive elevator will take you up to the boarding platform.

Turn and look back before going through the main doors. You will see a small locked room. Open the door by using the Secret Key and pick up the last Wraithstone. In case you lost the key, go back near the hangar’s supply bays—it’s placed behind a console.
