In DOOMS: The Dark Ages Chapter 16: The Kar’Thul Marshes, five Wolf Statues can be discovered hidden away—the highest number found in any chapter to date. These metal wolf-head statues are a side task, and shattering all of them will net you a Wraithstone, one of the game’s most valuable upgrade materials.
If you’re going for 100% completion or need to upgrade your guns fully, this is a task you don’t want to miss. Here is all you need to know to find and destroy all five statues in this chapter.
How Do Wolf Statues Work?
Wolf Statues are a unique type of collectable that can be found in specific chapters of DOOM: The Dark Ages, like the foreboding Kar’Thul Marshes. They take the form of growling wolf head shapes and consist of a dark metallic material that gives them a notably eerie presence in the world. You can usually find them in hard-to-access or easily overlooked areas, like on top of high ledges, under bridges, behind cultist altars or buildings, and near ritual areas or environmental puzzles.
In order to destroy a Wolf Statue, equip your Shield Saw (the enhanced throwaway shield). Fire and throw it directly at the statue, and the statue will break upon impact, expelling a brief shot of blue energy.
In The Kar’Thul Marshes, there are a total of five Wolf Statues spread all over the level. Once you find and blow up all five, a previously inaccessible Wraithstone within a pulsing purple force field will be available for you to claim.
Location of Wolf Statues in The Kar’Thul Marshes
There are five statues in total in The Kar’Thul Marshes, all relatively near each other but hidden across various layers of the level’s vertical and branching composition.
First Statue Location

From the spectral statue chamber (the one with glowing spectral figures), take the path that branches directly out and downward. You’re looking for a ledge beneath the map’s central zone. The statue is sitting at the end of this offshoot.
Second Statue Location
Near the centre of the map, opposite where you find the Battle Knight toy. Stand at the edge of the ledge and look down. You’ll see the second statue on a lower cliff, looking straight at you.
Third Statue Location
Find the large door with a yellow diamond symbol lit up on it. Head down the path to the right of this door. The statue is at the far end, sitting in the open. No trick or puzzle—just bash it with your Shield Saw.
Fourth Statue Location
While wandering through the middle of the map, search for a crater that has a giant tentacle which strikes at you. Kill the tentacle, then look at the border of the crater—you will discover the statue situated nearby.
Fifth Statue Location

On the other side of the map, alongside one of the Relic Fragment pickups. From where you see the relic, look out over to another cliff face. The final wolf statue is perched there, and it is easy to see in the distance.
Reward for Wolf Statues in The Kar’Thul Marshes
Once you’ve broken all five Wolf Statues in this chapter of DOOMS: The Dark Ages, head back to the spectral statue room—the one near where you first found the first statue. A purple energy force field that was previously obstructing a Wraithstone will now be inoperable. You can just go ahead and claim your reward.
Wraithstones are premium weapon upgrade materials that allow you to get the final tier upgrade on any of your primary weapons. The final upgrades typically come with game-altering abilities, like higher charge rates, longer durations, or explosive increases.
Harvesting this Wraithstone also advances weapon mastery, which is applied to unlock gold skins for weapons, perfect for style and bragging rights in the late game.
