The Aurora is the gigantic starship that brought you to Planet 4546B. It crash-landed, and now it rests in pieces across the ocean floor — and behind multiple security doors. You’ll normally get the access codes slowly as you work your way through radio messages and PDAs. But if you know them already, you can check out these off-limits areas in advance and collect precious loot.
Aurora Door Codes
You only have to punch each code in once — the doors remain unlocked thereafter.
- Cargo Bay: 1454
- Lab Access: 6483
- Cabin 1: 1869
- Captain’s Quarters: 2679
What’s Behind the Locked Doors
Every locked room holds upgrades, materials, and story secrets that make survival simpler and exploration more fulfilling.
- Cargo Bay – Stuffed with supply crates and, on good flights, a maximum of three Cyclops engine pieces, making this room one of the superior early discoveries for sub-building.
- Laboratory – More of a lore-rich area, with sample flasks, microscopes, and analyzers throughout. It’s not crucial to survival but adds depth to Alterra’s research on the Aurora.
- Cabin 1 – A warmer space filled with cosmetic trinkets such as the Blue Cap and Arcade Gorge Toy, minor details that allow you to add a personal touch to your base later.
- Captain’s Quarters – The most plot-relevant sealed room. Within, you can get the Captain’s Log download, critical to the advancement of the plot, along with personal quarters that describe the Aurora’s last days.
Other Key Areas of the Aurora
All rewards are not hidden behind code-locked doors. A few of the open areas of the wreck contain some of the most helpful upgrades in the game:
- Prawn Bay – Houses multiple Prawn Suit fragments and a Seamoth Storage Module, providing your submersible with additional cargo space.
- Seamoth Bay – Houses the Seamoth Depth Module Mk1 as well as wrecked Seamoth, assisting you in unlocking your first personal sub.
- Drive Room – Essential to the story. Here you can also repair the Aurora’s Drive Core using a Repair Tool in order to prevent radiation leaks. Repairing it enables safe exploration of adjacent waters without needing to wear a Radiation Suit.
Exploring the Aurora
The Aurora is one of the most dangerous yet rewarding places to explore in Subnautica. You’ll need a Radiation Suit, a Repair Tool, and several Fire Extinguishers to push past collapsed hallways and flames. Inside, you’ll uncover not only upgrades and blueprints, but also crew logs and remnants of the Aurora’s last moments.
