Before you go ahead and try to upgrade your weapons, you need to collect scattered manuscript fragments. You can use manuscripts to upgrade your weapons, and you can find them while locating Alex Casey Cold Case Lunch Boxes. These Lunch Boxes are collectables that are hidden across various locations, so when you find and unlock them, you can get manuscript fragments. For each upgrade, you require a certain amount of manuscripts, as mentioned below.

Next, to use the manuscripts, you need to enter Saga’s mind place. You can access the mind place quite early in the game. Once you are in, you will notice a desk and a wine bar against the far wall.
