Now that A Plague Tale: Requiem has been released, we may continue our trip with Amicia, Lucas, and Hugo across cities devastated by the plague. The game is far more demanding than its predecessor, with difficult combat and frustrating bugs.
One can be found in “Newcomers,” Chapter 2: “Underground,” in which you and Lucas search the Colosseum (the arena’s underground) for The Magister of the Order, the alchemist Vaudin. Lucas and Amicia are separated from each other in the second chapter of “Newcomers.” Some time after you first see the rats, you’ll be forced to flee from them until you’ve reached the safety of the steel door and locked it. In order to get there, you’ll have to step on a plank of wood that will give way beneath Lucas’s weight.
Even though Lucas will make it, the two of you will be forced apart. There are rats rummaging around Amicia and Lucas, and there is no means of starting a fire from far away. A hearth, some sticks, and a non-functional ladder are all that can be found here (red ban icon). Now the question is, how do we get to Lucas’s side of the Colosseum to assist him?
How to Help Lucas in A Plague Tale: Requiem
We can’t get to Lucas on the other side because we don’t have any Ignifer (a material that lights torches and bonfires) to scare away the rats, and he can’t reach us because he’s standing on the other side.
Then you need to toss the stick to Lucas while ensuring that it is not lit. Since Lucas has made it to your side unharmed, you may now use the previously inoperable ladder.
There is a straightforward answer, and Lucas gives it to us. What we need is for Lucas to come to us, rather than the other way around. The ability to throw and catch things from friends was first implemented in A Plague Tale Requiem. We need to grab a stick, ignite it using our side’s bonfire, then hurl it at the hearth on Lucas’ side. Once it is on fire, Lucas can go closer to the other side than he could before, but he still can’t make it across. It’s going to take a few tries of picking up a stick from the pile and tossing it to Lucas (same as when you throw any object or item, using the right mouse button on PC or LT button on the Xbox controller or L2 on the DualSense controller of the Playstation). He will then get hold of the stick and light it up.
The Blocked Ladder in A Plague Tale: Requiem
With this, Lucas will have a torch bright enough to make his way past the rats that were previously blocking him. Once you’ve reunited with Amicia again, the previously blocked ladder will become usable. The ladder will activate and become usable after Lucas has reached your side of the Colosseum, so don’t worry, this isn’t a glitch.
It’s interesting to note that if we hang around long enough, Lucas will reveal the answer to the mystery on his own. This means that you already know what to do if you find yourself at the Colosseum with Amicia and Lucas.
