The Devil in Me follows a group of filmmakers as they make their way in and around the World’s Fair Hotel, which is a replica of the Murder Castle owned by serial killer H.H. Holmes. You get to play as the main characters at various points of the game while trying to unravel the mysteries of the Hotel while trying to survive. To get the Crime Scene Photographer achievement, you get to take over as Mark Nestor, the cameraman of the group, and try to take photos as evidence around the hotel. In this guide, we will see how to get the Crime Scene Photographer Achievement in The Devil in Me.

The Devil in Me – How to Get Crime Scene Photographer Achievement

As Mark, you need to explore the World’s Fair Hotel and try to take relevant photos to complete the achievement. Here we will see how to get the Crime Scene Photographer achievements in The Devil in Me.

There are 20 pictures in total that you can shoot around the Hotel, but below we will chronicle just the 17 photos you can take in the Theatrical Cut. There are three more pictures you can take after completing the game and unlocking the Curator’s Cut, but that is only available for preorders. You should take note that the reticle of the camera should be green for the picture to qualify.

Scouting

  • Head through the library entrance and take a left, in the chamber, there is a desk with scratch marks on it. Take your first photo here. 
  • A little further into the library, there will be a desk that you can use to climb up to the upper level. From there, go left and crouch below the boards. At the edge of the platform there is a ladder, climb down then take a photo of the wooden door.

Mannequins

  • You should try to take a photo of the Mannequins seated around the table. You have to be quick before Jamie walks in, or else you will miss your chance. You can try to focus on Charlie more to get the reticle to turn green, or change the angle of your stance.

Workshop

This section would be a bit tricky, as there are some QTE as well as hiding and breathing sequences. You have to perform them correctly to get the photos you want and get the achievement. Failure to do so will skip this section entirely.

  • Take a photo of the acid vat after Mark’s fall.
  • Take a photo of the shelf and the boxes
  • After hiding from the killer, take a photo of the Kate mannequin
  • A little further into the room is another mannequin with white hair that you need to take a picture of

Pool 

  • Head outside to the dried-up pool, there is a mannequin inside the pool that you should take a photo of
  • The mannequin also has a key that you should pick up to get the next photo
  • While in the pool, look to the left side and take a photo of the light post
  • Head inside the building beside the pool and take a photo of the mannequin holding a towel
  • From there, head left and find the door that is glistening. Open it and take a photo of the blood splatter

Cliffside

You will take control of Charlie here, but you need to kill him to gain control of Mark again. You can kill Charlie by pressing the door twice in the Incinerator or failing the QTE. 

  • Run towards the wooden pier and look to your right. Take a photo of the lighthouse at a distance.
  • Turn further right till you spot the Manor on a hill. Take the second picture.
  • After Mark climbs up the roof and falls through the hole, walk a bit further till you spot a bloodied hoodie and some boots on the operating table.
  • In the next room are some corpses hooked to the ceiling. 
  • Walk further into the room and push the white operating screen open. There is a corpse inside the tank to take a photo of.

Lighthouse

  • Head up to the second floor of the lighthouse and walk past the bedroom and into the room with a fireplace. There is a desk here that you can take a picture of.
