The Ironheart Centipede is one of the new world bosses that has been introduced with the Hidden Mountains expansion pack that came along with Where Winds Meet 2.0. Getting to the Ironheart Centipede’s arena will involve accessing the new area, which includes undergoing the perilous mountain pathway leading to it. This guide will show you how to locate the Ironheart Centipede, navigate through the area, and defeat it in battle.
Ironheart Centipede Overview
Unlocking the Hidden Mountains region via the Yingying’s Invitation questline is necessary before you can fight the Ironheart Centipede, one of the two world bosses introduced with the Hidden Mountains expansion. You will follow markers for most tasks, but you may need to try again to complete a boating section later on.
Ironheart Centipede Location
Go to the location where you first enter Hidden Mountains after meeting Heron. Instead of going down toward the city, take the damaged path that an NPC will inform you is hazardous as it has fallen out of use and is unsafe to traverse.
Keep making your way ahead using ziplines and other traversal points while dodging monkeys that are throwing stones at you. When you reach the peak, you will see a Boundary Stone as well as a small chest on a platform. Activating the Boundary Stone will be beneficial as it will help with quick returns. Interact with the chest to open the Ironheart Centipede boss arena.
How to Beat Ironheart Centipede
Set up your respawn point by activating the Hero’s Tomb inside the arena before beginning your battle. Utilizing a Rope Dart and Gauntlet combination is an effective method, while melee builds allow for easily staying near the boss, making it easier to dodge most mid-range attacks.
Ironheart Centipede Attack Patterns

| Sideways Slash | Ironheart Centipede performs a horizontal slashing attack with its blades. You can avoid this move by using the Rope Dart to pull yourself toward the boss or by using Deflection Assist to time your response more easily. |
| Ground Stab | The boss stands up and leans backward before slamming both blades into the ground. This attack can be avoided by rolling away or dashing to either side. |
Phase 1: Dodging Attacks and Creating Openings
During the fight, Ironheart Centipede uses its Sideways Slash and Ground Stab attacks. Pay attention to its movements and avoid attacking recklessly. When the boss leaves an opening after its attacks, move in and deal damage before preparing to dodge again.
The Sideways Slash can be countered by using a Rope Dart pull to close the distance, while Deflection Assist can help with timing the response. For the Ground Stab, move away from the attack area by rolling or dashing to either side.
Phase 2: Breaking Through the Armor
Ironheart Centipede has a single health bar and briefly loses its armor during certain moments in the battle. Use these opportunities to continue attacking while maintaining focus on avoiding its attacks.
The boss’s attack pattern does not change during this period, so continue using the same approach until its health is depleted.
