If you want to get stronger Pals through breeding, choosing the right cake is just as important as choosing the right parents. Each cake provides a different boost in Palworld 1.0. It could be the ability to make more eggs, better Talent, greater mutation potential, or good Passive Skill inheritance. In this guide, we’ll tell you what every cake does, the ingredients needed to make it, and when you should use each one so you can get the best results from your breeding farm.
All Cakes Explained
Breeding in Palworld has become much more interesting thanks to the different types of cakes. Even though there are thousands of possibilities in terms of Pal breeding combinations, using specific cakes may affect your outcome.
Using any cake gives a high possibility of obtaining a Huge Egg rather than a regular egg. The Huge Egg contains Bosses of the respective Pals. Most Boss Pals are usually stronger than their non-Boss versions; hence, they are important for battling and breeding purposes.
Cake ingredients spoil over time. Using a Refrigerator or Cooler Box with an Ice-type Pal greatly extends their freshness. If you don’t have refrigeration yet, simply craft cakes regularly so your ingredients don’t go to waste.
What You Need in Your Cake Base
You don’t need a complicated setup. A few essential buildings are enough to keep cake production running smoothly. Your base should include:
- A Cooking Pot or any kitchen for baking cakes.
- Crushers to turn Wheat into Flour.
- A Power Generator if you’re using electric cooking stations.
- Multiple crop fields for growing your ingredients.
- Ranches for Pals that produce animal products.
- A Refrigerator or Cooler Box to prevent ingredients from spoiling.
- Plenty of beds and resting areas for your working Pals.
Once these are in place, your base can produce cakes almost automatically. Build a Cooking Pot near your storage facility. When you have all the required ingredients, queue cakes in the Cooking Pot. Fire Pals equipped with Kindling will cook them automatically whenever they are idle. The only thing that should be noted here is that once the cakes are cooked, they remain in the Cooking Pot until you retrieve them. But that shouldn’t matter because the cakes in the Breeding Farm won’t spoil.
Standard Cake
The Standard Cake is the simplest cake that you will get at the start of the game. Its function is identical to the original breeding cake; that is, it allows the production of a good egg from two Pals. The only downside is that it doesn’t have any bonuses.

Vegetable Cake
Vegetable Cake is unlocked when you get to level 47. Vegetable Cake is ideal in cases where you need to hatch many Pals. Unlike other cakes that produce an egg at a time, this cake produces two eggs at a time. It becomes very easy to hatch similar Pals and farm passive skills from them. In cases where you plan to hatch many similar Pals, this is one of the best cakes to use.

Mushroom Cake
The Mushroom Cake can be unlocked when you have achieved Level 30. The Mushroom Cake increases the effectiveness of the Pal that you hatch. Pals hatched from such eggs can achieve their Talent (Talent Level) easily and hence increase their strength with level increase. The one bad thing about these cakes is that you need Cavern Mushrooms for them, and Cavern Mushrooms are not easy to obtain. You can find them inside caves or earn them through certain Pal Expeditions.

The only difficult ingredients here are the mushrooms, especially Cavern Mushrooms.
Extravagant Vegetable Cake
The recipe for Extravagant Vegetable Cake can be unlocked when you achieve Level 60. The Extravagant Cake is the most effective breeding cake. It enhances the chances of hatching Mutated Eggs that produce various kinds of Pals, and not the usual Pal created from the breeding process. It also helps the resulting Pals improve their Talent more easily. If you’re looking for rare or unique Pals through breeding, this is the cake you’ll want to use.

The Special Cake will become unlocked after you unlock its recipe by reaching Level 70. If you’re trying to breed Pals with the best passive combinations, the Special Cake is a great choice. You can cook the Special Cake in the Ancient Kitchen after gathering all the required ingredients.
