Awakening is one of the new abilities added to Palworld 1.0 when you want to increase the power of your best Pals. This ability permanently increases a Pal’s Attack and Defence stats, making it very useful in boss fights, raiding, and other hard battles. Although you’ll need to gather a few rare materials from the World Tree before you can use it, the process is fairly simple once you know where to look. In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about awakening your Pals, including the materials you’ll need, where to find them, and how to complete the process.
How to Awaken Pals in Palworld 1.0
Awakening your Pals is a good strategy for increasing their stats, although you will have to collect some specific ingredients first. The required items include Radiant Gems and World Tree Holy Water. Both these items can be obtained in the World Tree location; therefore, it would be better to farm them together.
How to Get Radiant Gems
Radiant gems dropped by most Pals in the World Tree tend to correspond to the Pals’ elemental affinity. For instance, if you are out looking for gems of a certain element, go somewhere where there are many such elemental Pals. You may get Radiant Gems by:
- Fishing in the World Tree region.
- Opening treasure chests.
- Recycling Ancient Relics.
- Sending Pals on expeditions to the Within the Seal area.
In your exploration of the World Tree, you may find a Pal that is glowing. They are quite rare, but these should be hunted as they yield 10 times the amount of Radiant Gems compared to their ordinary counterparts. While a regular Pal will give out 1 to 3 gems, it may give 10 to 30 gems.
How to Get World Tree Holy Water
The easiest way to collect World Tree Holy Water is by defeating Pals throughout the World Tree region. Most enemies in this area have a chance to drop it, so you’ll naturally collect plenty while farming other materials.
How to Recycle Ancient Relics
Ancient Relics can also reward you with Radiant Gems. To use them, you’ll first need to build an Ancient Relic Recycler. Once it’s built:
- Place World Tree Holy Water in the bottom slot.
- Put your Ancient Relics in the top slot.
- Turn the recycler on.
- Assign a Pal with the Handiwork work suitability to operate it.
The recycler stops automatically after finishing each batch, so you’ll need to restart it if you have more relics to process. Besides Radiant Gems, recycling can also reward you with several other useful items.
Craft an Awakening Crystal
After collecting the required materials, build an Ancient Workbench. This unlocks the recipe for the Awakening Crystal. To craft one Awakening Crystal, you’ll need:
- 50 Radiant Gems
- 10 World Tree Holy Water
Once you’ve crafted an Awakening Crystal:
- Keep the Pal you want to awaken in your inventory.
- Open your inventory and select the Awakening Crystal.
- Choose Use.
- Select the Pal you want to awaken.
The awakening will happen instantly. You can confirm it’s worked by opening the Pal’s details; its level will now display a special animated icon, showing that the Pal has been awakened. There will also be a steep 8-10% increase in their stats.
