The recipe quest is among the first quests you will get in order to be a Shadow in the old camp. Your mentor Dexter tasks you to head to the Swamp Camp in order to collect a recipe for dreamjuice from Cor Kalom. You need to travel through tough terrain, break into the lab and open up the box. In this guide, we will tell you how to complete the Cults Recipe quest in Gothic Remake.
The Cults Recipe Quest
Talk to Dexter in the Old Camp after starting Diego’s “Casting Shadows” quest. Talk to him about joining the Shadow Brotherhood, and he will mention a job that he would like you to complete. He wants you to travel to the Swamp Camp and collect a recipe for dreamjuice from Cor Kalom. When offered this quest, you must select the dialogue option “All right. I’ll see what I can do.” As an alternative to reaching the Swamp Camp on your own, you may simply leave the Old Camp through the southern gate and head east following the road.
Going to Swamp Camp
Keep on following the path in an eastern direction, and do not stop at the waterfalls on your path. After a certain distance, you will see a part of the path leading downwards towards some lower terrain. Continue your journey through the same trail until you arrive at the swamps. Now, the Swamp Camp is closed, so proceed until you reach its entrance.
As soon as you get near the Swamp Camp entrance, the Templars present there will stop you and start a conversation with you. Inform them that you would like to join their camp by opting for the dialogue choice: “I heard you’re looking for new recruits. I want to join you.” When the dialogue session is over, move inside the Swamp Camp slightly. Over there, you will be able to find Lester speaking with Baal Namib.
Once you’ve reached the door of the laboratory, go up the staircase until you reach the topmost level, which will take you to the lab of Cor Kalom. Once you’re there, check out the left side of Cor’s working area. You should be able to find a chest on the left side, specifically near the position where Caine normally stands.
You might have a hard time retrieving the recipe since Caine, who guards the laboratory door, can see you and stop you from taking the recipe. However, Cor Kalom isn’t concerned about you because he is very busy doing his work.
Opening the Lock
To simplify the process, you should just wait for the night to come, either by sleeping on a bed or waiting for it. When it is nighttime and Caine is gone, head back to the chest and begin unlocking it. The lock has four sections labelled from 1 to 4. Use the following sequence to open it:
- Move #4 left 6 times
- Move #1 right 3 times
- Move #2 right 2 times
- Move #1 left 2 times
- Move #3 right 2 times
- Move #1 left 3 times
- Move #2 right 3 times
- Move #1 left 2 times
- Move #4 right 2 times
With the chest open, grab Kalom’s Recipe and proceed with the quest. After obtaining Kalom’s Recipe, it is now time to go to Old Camp to talk with Dexter. You will see Dexter in the market portion of the Old Camp, located on its south side. If you visit during nighttime, he will no longer be found outdoors but will instead be taking a nap in a nearby hut. Talk with Dexter and show him Kalom’s Recipe.
