Whistler’s Sword is one of the earliest side quests that players can perform within the Old Camp in Gothic 1 Remake. Within this quest, Whistler will request your help in buying a specific sword from Fisk; however, the story does not end as easily as expected. The decisions made by players may lead to many conclusions, affecting rewards and relationships between characters. This guide will tell you how to complete the quest, avoid common mistakes, and earn Whistler’s support for future quests.
Whistler’s Sword Quest
Go talk to Whistler at the Old Camp and tell him that you would like to know more about his favour. He will mention that you have to buy a sword from him. However, before accepting this favour, make sure that you accept Whistler’s proposal and agree to buy the sword for him in exchange for 100 Ore Nuggets.
Afterwards, go to Fisk, who is located beside the campfire. You will now talk to Fisk and select the dialogue choice that says “I’m looking for a sword…” Fisk will now tell you that he is selling Whistler’s Sword for 110 Ore Nuggets. However, since Whistler provided you with only 100 Ore Nuggets, you will have to pay an additional 10 Ore Nuggets.
Buying Whistler’s Sword
Here, you have two alternatives. First, you can go back to Whistler and request the additional 10 Ore Nuggets from him. Second, you may confront Fisk regarding the increased price of the sword. Go back to Whistler and inform him that Fisk agrees to sell the sword, but at the cost of 110 Ore Nuggets. Whistler will agree to the increase in price and provide you with the additional 10 Ore Nuggets needed.
Then, approach Fisk once more and talk about the sword. Accept the offer to buy the sword for 110 Ore Nuggets. After completing this task, you will be able to buy the sword and complete this section of the quest. Then, give the sword to Whistler to end this quest. You will be rewarded with 200 EXP as well as important approval points necessary to access the Old Camp.
In addition, you will get another bonus from completing this task. While accomplishing the Admission to the Old Camp main quest, Whistler will remember you and provide help in gaining approval points.
