Hewn Stone is one of those materials in Windrose that becomes really important as you progress through the game. At first, it might seem confusing since you can’t find it directly in the world, and many players aren’t sure how to get it. But once you understand how it works, it’s actually quite simple to unlock and craft. Since it’s used in building key stations and upgrades, learning how to get and use Hewn Stone will help you grow your base much faster.

How to Get Hewn Stone

The recipe can be unlocked by visiting the swamp biome. Within the biome, players should search for ancient excavation sites where they can collect the Ancient Scraps resource. Players must make sure that they have an iron pickaxe as they cannot mine for Ancient Scraps using any other mining tool. After obtaining the necessary amount of Ancient Scraps, players will be able to unlock the recipe of Hewn Stone.

After that, players will need to return to their base and craft Hewn Stone using a level 3 Workbench. It is a very easy recipe and requires only 3 stones to produce 1 Hewn Stone. Just open the crafting menu at your Workbench, find Hewn Stone, choose how many you want, and craft it.

How to Use Hewn Stone

Hewn Stone is a rare resource in Windrose that you will mostly use when constructing various buildings and other facilities. This material becomes essential when advancing through the game since a lot of constructions and facilities will be requiring it.

You will require Hewn Stones for the construction of facilities like Bellows, which uses up to five Hewn Stones, and Enchanting Table, which requires ten Hewn Stones. Larger facilities, like Large Smelting Furnace, require about twenty Hewn Stones, whereas small facilities, such as Press, require two.
