Tar is an important resource that will become necessary as you progress in Windrose, especially when you start reaching Tier 4. Its main application is creating good weapons, so having tar in good amounts will make it easier for you in the future. Although you won’t be able to get it at the game’s beginning, tar becomes obtainable after reaching the swamp biome. How to Get Tar

Tar is a thick, sticky material that’s great for coating and crafting. This resource can be found in the swamp biome. In order to collect Tar, one must look for the Tar Wood trees that occur in the swamp. You need to enter the third biome, in the swamp biome. It can be entered by going to the south end of the second biome, and it is easily recognizable because of its unique appearance compared to all the other biomes.

The Tar Wood trees are different from the rest, and therefore, they are fairly easy to identify. You will require an Iron Axe to cut the Tar Wood trees. The Iron Axe can be crafted at level 2 workbench using five Foothills Iron Ingots and five Wood. They give you about two to ten Tar, making it worthwhile cutting as many as possible.

How to Use Tar

Tar plays an important role in some crafting recipes that you will learn as you advance in your gameplay. Using tar, you will be able to craft the following: Fabric Arborum, Hide Arborum, Tarred Fabric, and Tarred Planks.
