Wolfram Powder is a major focus during mid-game but cannot be made when you start off. Players will need to build specific types of structures, earn enough Energy Points, and gain enough Reputation Points within the Selenian Corporation to be able to produce Wolfram Powder. This guide will help players locate Wolfram Deposits and explain how to turn them into usable Wolfram powder while travelling through the Arcadia-7 system.
Finding and Extracting Wolfram Ore
The first step to obtaining Wolfram ore is to find a deposit of it. Deposits of Wolfram ore have a bronze-coloured appearance under the surface of the planet, allowing you to identify them more easily. Once you have found a deposit, you need to place an Ore Extractor directly on the deposit and then connect the Ore Extractor to a power supply.
After connecting the Ore Extractor to a power supply, it will continually produce Wolfram ore without you needing to do anything further. To convert raw Wolfram ore into powder requires a process called refining. The best way to refine the Wolfram ore is to build a Smelter that will extract the Wolfram ore from the Ore Extractor through the use of a rail. Ensure that both the Ore Extractor and the Smelter are connected to sufficient power prior to this step.
If either structure does not have enough power in the network, the Smelter will fail to operate properly. After interacting with the Smelter, you will need to choose the Wolfram Bars as the output. After this selection has been made, the ore will be automatically transported along the rail to be converted into bars.
Unlocking the Furnace
It is impossible to produce Wolfram Powder without first getting a Furnace; however, the Furnace becomes available only after you complete the faction progression. As part of completing the faction progression, you will need to earn 6400 reputation points and reach level 4 in the Selenian Corporation.
The most effective way to hit this level quickly is to submit Titanium Sheets you create with your starter base as they are easy to create in large quantities. When you reach this level of Reputation, the Furnace becomes available for construction.
Producing Wolfram Powder
Now that you have access to the Furnace, it can be placed alongside the Smelter, and linked together using a rail. Check your electricity setup for any required changes before continuing since you may need to add another solar generator due to adding the Furnace. Upon interacting with it, you will see Wolfram Powder as an option that can be selected; this is how you change Wolfram Bars into a powder form using the Furnace.
When only a limited quantity is required, you may choose to put Wolfram bars into a Furnace that isn’t connected with the Ore Extractor directly. As there will be no ongoing production using this method you will have better control over output.
The importance of Wolfram powder increases dramatically with increasing combat difficulty. You will need it to craft Assault Rifle ammo, so it’s recommended to find some before your initial pistol starts feeling weak. As you explore more of Arcadia-7, greater needs for more powerful weapons will arise.
