In Lego Horizon Adventures, upgrades give Aloy and her team a significant boost, helping you earn extra XP, find more gadgets and rare weapons, and deal more damage in combat. These upgrades become available after you reach the Tallneck at the end of the second story quest, and you can access them anytime by visiting the All-Mother Tree in your village. As you progress through the game and collect gold bricks by completing levels and community requests, you’ll unlock more powerful upgrades that can be purchased at the All-Mother Tree in the hub.
Best Upgrades
- Super Berries: Besides healing you, Super Berries can help protect Aloy and her crew from dangerous effects like fire, ice, and shock. Unlocking this upgrade means the berries will heal these effects, helping you stay safe in the heat of battle.
- Weak Sauce: Available from the start, this upgrade rewards you with XP for hitting enemies’ weak points. It’s key to leveling up quickly, especially since you can upgrade it to a 50% XP bonus, helping you hit the level cap much faster.
- Environmental Warrior: This works like the “Weak Sauce” upgrade, but with an environmental twist. You’ll earn extra XP for using the environment to take down enemies – things like rocks, explosive barrels, or other hazards. With a 25%-75% XP boost, this can really add up over time.
- Power User: Since gadgets and weapons are such a big part of your arsenal, making them stronger is a no-brainer. Each level of the Power User upgrade boosts your damage, starting with a 15% increase and maxing out at a 45% damage boost. This makes a big difference in combat.
- Berry Good: As tougher machines start showing up, you’ll likely find yourself taking more damage. This upgrade makes sure healing berries are more plentiful, adding an extra 1-3 berries to trees so you can keep healing as you fight.
- Gadgets A-Gogo: If you’re hunting for a specific gadget or rare weapon but can’t seem to find it, this upgrade increases your chances of getting them from defeated enemies. It starts at a 5% drop rate boost, but maxing it out to 15% means you’ll have plenty of options after each fight.
- Zero Waste: When you’re up against tougher enemies, especially corrupted ones, you’ll want to make the most of your best gadgets and weapons. The Zero Waste upgrade makes it so you can use them more efficiently, meaning fewer wasted resources and better chances of survival.
- Gadgeteer: Gadgeteer gives you extra XP when you defeat enemies using your gadgets, with bonuses ranging from 25% to 75%, making it a solid investment.
