Gohan’s journey in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero features just one branching path, but it stands out as one of the most unique and extensive storylines in the game. This article talks about everything you need to know to unlock it and what to expect from the story. In Gohan’s campaign, the only unlockable branching path is called The Strongest Warrior. You can access Gohan’s unique storyline during the God of Destruction Beerus/Frieza’s Resurrection Arc.
Gohan Branching Path in DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO
To start Gohan’s Sparking story, you need to face Frieza in the episode titled “Defend Earth from the Frieza Force!” In this episode, you’ll first need to take down one of Frieza’s minions. Once you’ve done that, Frieza, who has been revived using the Dragon Balls, will show up. You’ll need to deplete a significant portion of his health quickly. If you don’t manage this, you’ll end up on the main path, but if you do succeed, you’ll unlock Gohan’s branching path. The Strongest Warrior introduces a major twist to the anime’s original storyline by adding a new villain, Gohan Black. Here’s how to navigate this path.
Gohan faces off against Frieza once more, but this time, Frieza chooses to transform after realizing that Gohan is stronger than he expected. To progress along the path, you’ll need to defeat Frieza in this episode, after that you will receive 1000 Zeni and 50 Player EXP.
After facing Gohan again, Frieza transforms into his new form, Golden Frieza. This episode marks a shift away from the original story, as Gohan isn’t strong enough to defeat Frieza in this form, having left his fighting days behind to pursue scholarship. To complete this episode, you simply need to defeat Golden Frieza. This will trigger a cutscene introducing a new villain, Gohan Black. As an immortal being, Gohan and his allies can’t defeat him, so Trunks buys them time to escape and come up with a plan. After completing this episode you’ll be rewarded with 1000 Zeni and 50 Player EXP.
The episode titled “Gohan’s Growth” doesn’t feature a battle; instead, it serves as a filler to advance the story. With the emergence of Gohan Black and the danger he represents to the universe, Gohan is motivated to start training again and strengthen himself. With Piccolo’s guidance, Gohan learns how to take down an immortal enemy using the Evil Containment Wave technique. Now equipped to take on an immortal being, Gohan returns to confront Gohan Black. In this episode, you just need to lower his health to move forward. This will trigger a cutscene where Gohan Black reveals that he is Zamasu from an alternate timeline.
Gohan now faces Zamasu, whose fusion with the non-immortal Gohan Black ultimately leads to his downfall. To complete the battle in this episode, you need to reduce Zamasu’s health. However, when Gohan and Goku attempt to finish him off with a combined Kamehameha, they find themselves unable to succeed. This concludes the episode and sets the stage for the final part of Gohan’s Sparking path.
As Zamasu nears defeat, Trunks returns to join Gohan. Together, they overpower the villain and finally trap him using the Evil Containment Wave technique that Piccolo taught Gohan earlier in the branching path. With Zamasu defeated, Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta head back to their own timeline, where Gohan continues his training and works to become stronger than ever.
