Throne and Liberty is filled with amazing and fantastical creatures, including a massive flying whale called the Gigantrite. Players are likely to see this impressive beast soaring through the skies early in the game. Although, it doesn’t appear all the time; it only spawns about every three hours. Thankfully, the game will send out a server-wide message when it shows up, so players will know when to look out for it.
How to Ride Gigantrite
Riding on the Gigantrite requires a few steps from the players, but they don’t have to fight it. First is unlocking the Glide Morph ability, which transforms a person into a flying creature. A person can unlock this by completing some quests, defeating some bosses, or even finishing codex entries. Another way of getting Glide Morphs is by buying them at the shop. Whichever Glide Morph they choose, they can use the one they need, with sufficient glide to cover the distance to the Gigantrite.
The next location to be entered would be the Starlight Observatory Ruins, northwest of Vienta Village, and located east of Kastelon. Once players take control of the ruins, they will be in a position to board the Gigantrite. To achieve this, one needs to climb up to the top of the ruins and wait for the passage of the Gigantrite. It’s also the point where they would see the tallest tower of that ruin, so they would have a clear view of where it is going to go on its flight path; right through that area. When they see Gigantrite, they can just jump off that point, glide towards it by using their Glide Morph, which can be a bit tricky because the view would not be too clear. Other players could be trying to do the same thing. It is frustrating, especially when the player has missed their turn to land on the Gigantrite. They would have to wait another three hours for it to reappear again.
Exploration Codex “Little Friend in the Sky”
Once you hop onto the Gigantrite to explore or crash into Stonegard Castle, you can also complete the “Little Friend in the Sky” Exploration Codex. This codex is part of the Nesting Grounds Codex Quest. Keep an eye out for the Powerless Doll near the Gigantrite’s right wing, and then continue with the rest of the quest. You have plenty of time to find the Powerless Doll, but keep in mind that the Gigantrite is massive!
Story of the Gigantrite
The Gigantrite soars alone through the sky, which is a thrilling sight, but there’s a sad story behind it. The Gigantrite belongs to one of the oldest mystical species, according to ancient texts. Once, a whole clan thrived, but now it seems this lone creature is all that remains. However, there have been accounts of a fisherman spotting another one at sea. This majestic creature has a deep connection to the flow of Mana, the essence of nature. It doesn’t eat or sleep; instead, it absorbs energy from the Mana in the atmosphere. Long ago, when the gods were said to walk the earth, the Mana was abundant, and Gigantrites could be seen flying daily, gathering energy as they followed the sun. They also helped nourish other creatures by circulating Mana and purifying negative energy.
But everything changed with the shattering of the Star of Sylaveth and the onset of endless wars. This turmoil made the Mana murky and diminished, causing many Gigantrites to return to the sea and perish. The last living Gigantrite is said to have missed its kin so much that it fell into an eternal slumber near an island rich in Mana. Thousands of years have passed since then, and the Gigantrite has become little more than a legend in Solisium, much like tales of giants and dragons. About 20 years ago, one lone Gigantrite was spotted again near Whisp Island, and people viewed it as a good omen, a sign of an impending era of peace. It has since become a tradition to offer a prayer for peace whenever the Gigantrite is seen flying high above. Interestingly, this Gigantrite once had two horns, but one is now broken. Some believe it was damaged by an ancient giant, while others attribute it to the more recent influence of Arkeum. However, there’s no solid explanation for this mystery.
