To keep a monkey at your base, you need to capture one in the wild. Usually monkeys can be spotted quite close to your base. Scan your surroundings using the Habit Analyzer to spot any monkey nearby. They could be on trees or on the ground. Next, you need to craft a small trap using 19x Branches, 10x Clay, and 5x Thick Rope. You can unlock the blueprint for small traps under the Animal Breeding skill in Dawn of the New Tribe of your Knowledge tree.
Place the trap near the monkey location and put a banana inside as bait. Wait for the monkey to take the bait and get trapped. Pick up the monkey and make your way to your base and set the monkey inside a pen. You need to supply it with adequate food and water to maintain its health.
