Ghost Bind is one of those skills that feels almost unfair when you’re surrounded. It freezes several enemies at once, giving you room to breathe or set up a clean finisher. If you’re running solo, it’s easily one of the most useful crowd-control tools in the game.
Here’s how to unlock it, how it works, and what to do if the quest refuses to show up.

How to Unlock Ghost Bind

You’ll find this skill tied to a small side quest called Unwanted Hospitality in Kaifeng City.
Head to the southeast part of town. As you enter a narrow alley, the quest should activate on its own. After a while, someone will throw a rock at you from a window—approach him and speak to him to get things going properly.
He’ll send you off to deal with three NPCs standing just around the corner. Walk over, get close, and hit R2 to activate Ghost Bind as part of the quest. All three enemies will freeze on the spot, a short cutscene will play, and once it wraps up, the Ghost Bind Mystic skill is yours.

How Ghost Bind Works

Ghost Bind causes you to dash forward, instantly immobilising several enemies in place—up to six at a time. It does a bit of damage and disrupts vital points, but its real value lies in freezing a whole group so you can control the pace of the fight.
A few things to keep in mind:
- It doesn’t affect elite enemies, bosses, or other players.
- It does shine against packs of weaker or mid-tier mobs, especially if you’re playing solo.
Think of it as a reset button when things just get too crazy.

If the Quest Doesn’t Appear
There is currently a known issue where Unwanted Hospitality simply refuses to trigger. If this happens to you, try a couple of quick fixes:
- Fast travel to the city’s entrance, then walk to the alley once more.
- Start the game over.
- Approach the alley from the side where the three NPCs are already visible.
- This helps the trigger fire correctly for many players.
Once the quest activates, you’re good to go.
