In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, character development is fueled by stat management and intelligent build strategizing. No matter if you enjoy brute force, rapid hits, or big magic, knowing how each stat works helps ensure your playstyle is optimized. Having physical and magical abilities combined, knowing which to level up will enable you to mold your version of Wuchang into a real force to be reckoned with.
Understanding Core Stats

Your character’s combat effectiveness is largely defined by six main stats. These can be boosted by leveling up and opening up nodes in your skill tree. Some of these stats are easy enough to understand, but others, such as Feathering, may take some time to comprehend initially.
- Vitality: Adds to your maximum health pool and enhances the effectiveness of Vitality Control spells. Essential for tankier configurations or for players wishing for improved survivability.
- Endurance: Linked directly to your stamina bar, this stat controls how many actions—such as dodges, blocks, or attacks—you can take before exhausting your stamina.
- Strength: Controls the damage dealt by Strength Control weapons. If you play favoring heavy-hitting weapons such as axes or longswords, this is your go-to stat.
- Agility: Regulates the damage of weapons under the Agility Control category. Suitable for players who prefer quicker, more agile combat with one-hands or dual blades.
- Magic: Magnifies the damage from normal spell-based skills. Magical offense-based builds will see the value in spending here.
- Feathering: Scales the damage of certain kinds of spells—the Feathering class. While they act like normal spells, their strength comes from this special stat instead of Magic.
What Is Feathering Damage?

Feathering is effectively a secondary magic damage type utilized by a sub-area of spells in the game. Most spells will scale from the Magic stat, but some will list Feathering as their main scaling attribute. These are identical to other magic abilities but need Feathering invested in them in order to be effective. If you want a more specialized caster build, an emphasis on Feathering can provide a unique combat feel.
Weapon Scaling: Strength vs. Agility
Weapons in Wuchang are separated into two main scaling types—Strength Control and Agility Control. This determines which stat raises their damage and should determine your build decisions.
Strength Control Weapons
They are slower, heavier weapons that dish out a lot of damage on each hit. They scale with the Strength stat and will be best for players who prefer careful, high-damage swings.
- Longswords
- Axes
- Spears
Agility Control Weapons
Faster and more agile, these weapons are based on fast combos and swift attacks. They scale based on the Agility stat, providing a quicker combat style.
- Dual Blades
- One-Handed Swords
- Spears
Note that Spears specially show up in both lists. Certain spear types are made for Strength-based characters, while others work better for Agility players. The weapon description will explain which stat it scales based on.
Building Efficiently

Although it is possible to wield multiple weapon types, it is generally better to stick with one Strength or Agility to maximize damage output using consistent stat spending. Equipping two weapons of the same scaling type enables you to gain the most out of each level and skill point.
Likewise, casters will wish to specialize in Magic or Feathering based on the type of spells they have a preference for, instead of attempting to balance both.
