He was born in Scandinavia and was a very sickly child. It was only later when he was a bit older that he was able to travel with Kratos. His father taught him how to use the bow and arrow, and that helped him survive the harsh world in God of War. He would eventually learn about his Jotun Heritage and his God. Though he has inherited his rage from his father, he is still kind-hearted like his mother. He is arrogant and violent early in the game but comes to an understanding of his feelings later on.
Since he is God-like like his father, he has various superhuman abilities that help him fight enemies in God of War. He is blessed with the Divine-Jötnar Physiology, Advanced Combat, and Superhuman Intelligence. Upgrading his stats in the game makes him almost equal to Kratos.
Though he may be a child, Atreus is still a powerful ally to Kratos and they both make a strong team.
