As you progress through the game you will be able to try out lots of shields which are available in the combat-based video game. With the help of the Path and the Favors, you will be able to unlock two shields first, which are called Dauntless and Stonewall. You will need to prioritize one of them as at the beginning of the game, you only have a limited amount of materials to craft your shield.

The first shield that you can craft requires 750 Hacksilver and one Slag Deposit. Below, we will list the pros and cons of each shield and you can make your decision based on your playing style.

Dauntless Shield

This shield is good for parrying, and has the Shield Bash ability which helps to deal high stun damage. Parrying deals stun damage if you press the block button when an enemy hits you. However, it will not be able to block many attacks. You will need to rely on your dodge ability a lot, and use the Shield for parrying.

Stonewall Shield

The Stonewall Shield is great at defense as it is capable of blocking guard breaks. With a lot of absorption power, the shield can help you deliver a Shield Slam attack to send nearby enemies flying. It is a pretty sturdy shield and can save you from a lot of damage.

If you prefer to parry, you can choose the Dauntless Shield which is a more advanced move. For beginners and those who like to block, the Stonewall Shield is a great option. After you have chosen the first shield, you will have more opportunities to get a new shield, so you don’t need to worry too much about it.
