Early chapters in Where Winds Meet ease you into the world with a few simple lessons. You’ll meet Feng Jisheng, who helps you get comfortable with the bow by having you knock a few birds out of the sky. A short cutscene later, and you’re sent to “Approach the Stranger,” introducing you to a Wayfarer holding a key piece of the map. Shortly after that, a bear stands between you and your first taste of Tai Chi.

For now, either remain on the main road to head towards the General’s Shrine or make a detour to explore the nearby enemy camp to initiate a rather small but interesting encounter with Xiao Ping’an.

How to Begin the Little Master’s Legacy 1 Encounter

If you’re pressing onward toward the General’s Shrine, you’ll eventually come to a shallow river crossed via a small wooden bridge. On its far side, look right; there’s an enemy camp in the clearing ahead.

Controller players will find that a prompt to hold the left stick inwards pops up, allowing them to listen in on the enemies. Feel free to listen in, or jump into fisticuffs right away. Once the camp’s clear, a new prompt appears in the corner of your screen for finding a nearby child who’s been quietly watching you battle.

He’s easy to spot. Just head a short distance north of the camp and you’ll find Xiao Ping’an waiting. He offers to teach you a new martial arts technique, but only after you show him a move he’s interested in. The one he wants to see is Daunting Strike from the Nameless Sword style.

How to Execute the Nameless Sword Daunting Strike

If the name doesn’t sound familiar, that’s okay. Daunting Strike is actually an attack you’ve more than likely been performing all along, albeit unconsciously. Before anything else, make sure that the Nameless Sword style is equipped in the Abilities section of your Development menu.

Open the style and take a look at the list of Martial Arts skills attached to it. The move that is bound to LT + X (L2 + Square on PlayStation) is Daunting Strike. It sends a flying slash forward, then yanks you into a swift dash that connects with a clean hit. This is precisely what Xiao Ping’an wants to see.

Quick setup:

  • Open your menu and select Develop.
  • Move on to Abilities.
  • Select Nameless Sword.
  • Daunting Strike should be in the left-most slot in your skill setup.

Once you’re set:

  • PC: Press Q
  • Xbox: LT + X PS – L2 + Square

If you don’t currently have the Nameless Sword equipped, tap down on the D-pad to cycle through your available weapons.
