Some Mystic Skills in Where Winds Meet look like you’re suddenly breakdancing in the middle of a duel, and Free Morph is just that. It’s flashy, chaotic, and most importantly, it hits like a truck. If bosses keep flattening you, this skill can really save your life.

If you haven’t grabbed it yet, here’s the easiest way to unlock Free Morph, how the move works, and what you’ll need to upgrade it.

How to Unlock Free Morph

In order to obtain Free Morph, you will have to defeat Tian Ying once more. His Challenge version becomes available after you have defeated him once in The Promised Light story quest.

Now, in the rematch, just to the right of his health bar, you’ll see a small eye icon; that’s his proficiency meter, which you should fill by parrying his spinning kicks.

The trick is to hit your parry exactly when his foot touches you. If timing is giving you trouble, lower the difficulty so parry prompts appear. Every clean deflection pushes the meter upward. Once it’s full, finish the fight, defeat Tian Ying, and the skill unlocks.

(A quick warning: Sometimes the unlock icon doesn’t appear. Check your Mystic Skill list anyway—you might have already earned it. If the proficiency meter won’t budge even after several good parries, reload the fight and try again. It’s a known bug.)

What Free Morph Does

Free Morph shines against single enemies, especially bosses. Your character lifts off the ground when you activate it and unleashes a fast series of kicks in the air. You stay airborne the entire time before finishing it off by crashing down and blasting the area around with a strong AoE hit.

Skill details:

  • Type: Offensive
  • Category: Single-Target Control
  • Vitality Cost: 35
  • Cooldown: 3 seconds
  • Effect: Pounce upwards, chaining multiple kicks mid-air before performing a ground slam for heavy damage.

It is such a great mix of aggression and evasion because staying off the ground will help you evade some enemy swings.
