Flaming Meteor is easily one of the flashiest and hardest-hitting Mystic Skills in Where Winds Meet, and while the game doesn’t spell out how to unlock it, the process is much easier once you know what triggers it. In this guide, we explain the full method for learning Flaming Meteor, how the Ye Wanshan fight works, and what conditions you need to meet before you can equip it.

Flaming Meteor Requirements

Before anything else, make sure your character meets the stat requirement:

SkillEnergy Required
Flaming Meteor60 Vitality

If you’re below that threshold, you can still unlock the skill, but you won’t be able to equip it yet.

How to get Flaming Meteor

Flaming Meteor is learned through the deflecting of a specific attack by Ye Wanshan ten times. You will only unlock this fight once you clear the Bodhi Sea mission in Sundara Land, which in turn appears after clearing Chapter One: Heaven Has No Pier.

Bodhi Sea Walkthrough

  • To enter the Illusion world of Ye Wanshan for the first time, do the following:
  • Once you complete Chapter One, proceed to the marked swampy area in Sundara Land.
  • Listen for the drumbeat, represented as a white ping on your screen. Ring all three drums scattered through the bog.
  • Return to Zhang Yinmang. You’ll be transported to Ye Wanshan’s Illusion world.
  • Defeat Ye Wanshan here once; this unlocks him as a repeatable encounter in the Bodhi Sea storyline.

(Important: You cannot learn Flaming Meteor during this first scripted fight.)

Re-entering Ye Wanshan’s Illusion

  • Once the Bodhi Sea mission is complete,
  • Open your map and look for the red umbrella/hero’s tomb symbol above the swamp.
  • Select the option to teleport at the bottom right.

Interact with the drum again to re-enter the Illusion world and start off the real learning process for Flaming Meteor.

Learning Flaming Meteor From Ye Wanshan

When the fight begins, look to the right of Ye Wanshan’s health bar. You’ll see a small eye icon—this is your Flaming Meteor learning meter. It is filled by performing one very specific action:

The Attack You Need to Deflect

  • Occasionally, Ye Wanshan leaps onto his horse and performs a downward spear strike.
  • A red flash will cover the move, which is what you need to deflect.

Each successful deflect triggers a short parry cutscene and raises learning progress by 1/10.

A few important notes

  • Only this downward red-glint spear strike counts; no other deflection will fill in the meter.
  • You don’t have to get all ten deflects in one run.
  • Progress carries over between deaths.
  • The progress is saved even if you accidentally kill him early.
  • You can check your current progress through the Bodhi Sea umbrella icon on the map.
  • Claiming the chest after battle is not needed for the progress to register.

Once you’ve successfully deflected this strike ten times, the meter completely fills, and Flaming Meteor is unlocked for good.
