The Ephemeral Blight is one of the more atmospheric quests in Where Winds Meet, which sends you deep into Mistveil Forest to track down three special cures: Wishing Cove, Hollow Abode, and Aureate Pavilion. While the first cure is handed to you early on, the other two can be tough to find since the game doesn’t give you quest markers for them.
This walkthrough covers all three cure locations and the full solution of the quest from start to finish.

How to Start The Ephemeral Blight Quest
You can start the quest by venturing into Mistveil Forest to the east of Kaifeng City. Eventually, a thick, venomous mist will knock you out, and one NPC named Zhai Xu will bring you into his house for treatment.
When you wake up:
- Pick up the jade pendant beside the bed.
- Talk to Zhai Xu.
- Use Wind Sense in the house and investigate the two books on the table.
- Use the Meridian Touch on the hanging chime to distract him.
- Get the two books: Wishing Cove and Thousand-Wish Amendment.
- Head outside and read the Thousand-Wish Amendment, now listed under Quest Items.
That means you’ll need three cures to dissipate the fog that’s choking Mistveil Forest.

Mistveil Forest Cure Locations
Here is a quick overview of where each cure is found:

Each one is described in detail below.
Hollow Abode Location
The Hollow Abode Cure is hidden within the Soulshade Umbrella – Post Station, a Skill Theft dungeon southwest of Mistveil Forest. You won’t have to clear the dungeon to get the cure.
How to reach it:
- Enter the courtyard, using Wind Sense to track enemy sightlines.
- Climb the vines up to the second floor and slip through the open window.
- Head right to the staircase, and wait for the guard to turn away.
- Approach and use Touch of Death to remove him silently.
- Look for a table lit by green candles. The Hollow Abode Cure is sitting there.
You can leave now or stay and get the Soulshade Umbrella weapon.
Aureate Pavilion Location
Aureate Pavilion is an Outpost north of Mistveil Forest. It should already be on your map with a red Outpost icon.
To locate the cure:
- Circle around the forest, then proceed to the outpost.
- Head for the main hut in the centre; the cure is inside.
- Either fight the enemies gathered around the fire or sneak past them.
- The cure is sitting beside a mummified body in the hut.
No energy is needed, and you don’t have to clear the outpost.

How to Lift the Fog in Mistveil Forest
Once you have all three cures, head back to Zhai Xu at Wishing Cove. He’ll start brewing an antidote, which takes two in-game days.
When you return:
- Read the note inside his house that tells you he has gone north into Mistveil Forest.
- Follow the marker to meet him and receive the Mistveil Forest Cure.
- Press deeper into the woods, sticking closer to the campfires to avoid the toxin.
- Defeat the Aureate Pavilion guards and, with Fire Arrows, burn the Dawn-to-Dusk blooms blocking the path.
- Reach the big tree with hanging corpses, find clues, and destroy three more blooms.
- Pick up the jade pendant after defeating the nearby Sleeping Puppets.
- Follow the shadow of the Silver Needle Sect into the next section of the dungeon.
- At the dead end, examine Sun Buqi’s Notes next to the mummy.
You need to put the clues together correctly. Here’s the solved sequence in order to save you time:
- Dawn-to-Dusk Toxin + The cold poison is brewed here…
- The toxin turns humans into Sleeping Puppets. + A flood exposed his hidden lair
- The Sleeping Puppet had half a pendant + the Crane Holding Lingzhi motif.
- All three factions became Sleeping Puppets + Silver Needle medicinal gourd
- The Silver Needle Doctor clue + Bodies showing attempted rescue
- A healer’s heart remains true… + When the halves reunite…
It reveals the identity of the sleeping puppet beside the corpse.
Engage the Silver Needle Doctor Puppet.
He will get you inside the final cavern, and you’ll need to destroy three Dawn-to-Dusk blooms to stop the mist at its source.
Return to Zhai Xu at Wishing Cove and complete the quest for your rewards.
