How to Start the A Kindred Steed Encounter
Head north to Finesteed Hamlet in Qinghe. Wander around the ranch, and you’ll spot a brown-and-white horse called Golden Snow. Interact with him a couple of times, and you’ll quickly learn he’s no ordinary animal.
Golden Snow reveals that he is actually a man under a curse, changed into horse form until he can learn some humility. He’s still a bit full of himself, so he asks for your help in turning his luck around.
Where to Find Juicy Sour Berries
Your first task is pretty straightforward. Golden Snow wants some fresh Sour Jujube berries, which grow around the ranch. Look for bright red harvestable shrubs and collect a handful, then bring them back.
Once fed, he talks about how he ended up cursed in the first place. Before long, the stablemaster cuts the conversation short and sends you on your way. You’ll have to return after a few in-game days to check on Golden Snow’s progress.

Choosing Golden Snow’s Job
Wealthy Family or Village Farmer?
Upon your return, Golden Snow has to choose between two jobs:
- A wealthy family seeking a fancy parade horse
- Village farmer in need of assistance with hauling grain.
Golden Snow clearly prefers the glamorous option, but he’ll go along with whatever you choose. Your decision doesn’t affect rewards – only the dialogue you’ll hear later. Pick a path, then leave and come back again in a few in-game days.
Next Choice: The Lady or the Wanderer?
On your next visit, Golden Snow meets two new potential employers:
- A friendly young woman on the way to the clinic
- A travelling stranger with unclear intentions
As before, this decision mostly affects the flavour of the story. Both provide valuable lessons to help Golden Snow along in his path to becoming a better person. He once again leaves, and you come back after a short time.
The moment you meet him again, two merchants overhear your conversation. You’ll smooth things over and end up guiding Golden Snow into helping them with their next job.

Helping Golden Snow Break the Curse
After his final outing, it finally clicks in Golden Snow’s head that real growth involves more than a bunch of odd jobs.
Teaches him to ask to travel with you and admits he’s learned the value of helping others. On cue, a sorcerer suddenly appears, lifts the curse, and turns Golden Snow back into his human form: Jin Buque. Grateful for your guidance, he rewards you with:
