Healing Illness is the profession mini-game in which one treats sick NPCs in Where Winds Meet. It’s more about puzzle and resource management than combat, paying off with useful rewards and progression for your Healer profession.

This guide covers how the system works, step-by-step treatment tips, mastery upgrades, and what to expect from successful cures.

What Healing Looks Like

When you encounter a sick character, apply Wind Sense to diagnose the condition. The game will then suggest the most suitable treatment method: Physiotherapy or Qi Therapy. If your Healer Mastery is high enough, you can pick Quick Treatment to auto-succeed, but otherwise you must play the mini-game and apply Prescriptions manually.

Each treatment is limited to 10 rounds. You also have a 20-minute real-time window for each session, so you should plan your moves carefully. The main resources to manage are:

  • Fireyheart: depicted bottom-left, must be used to consume Prescriptions. Beginning a new healing cycle replenishes your Fireyhearts.
  • Vital Energy: your life bar during the mini-game. If this reaches zero, you fail.
  • Affliction Severity: the bar above the patient. Reduce it to zero in order to cure the illness.

Physiotherapy and Qi Therapy utilise similar mechanics; thus, the same tactics also apply to both.

Step-by-Step Treatment Strategy

  • Diagnose with Wind Sense, then select the recommended therapy.
  • On the first turn, expect the illness to attack your Vital Energy. Open with a shield move, like Inner Stillness or Visualisation, to protect yourself. If the illness hits hard, stack two shield cards.
  • Use Prescriptions that do damage to the illness while also lowering its defence, such as Essential Remedies or Dietary Therapy. This will lessen the incoming damage and shorten the fight.
  • An excellent example of a sacrifice card would be Anaesthesia Powder or Fasting Therapy, which exchanges some of your Vital Energy for heavy damage. Make sure you don’t use these unless you can truly afford a loss in Vital Energy.
  • Prioritise high-damage cards if the patient’s Affliction Severity is falling too slowly. If your Vital Energy is under heavy pressure, focus on shields and regen.
  • When your Fireyhearts get low, start the next healing cycle because a cycle reset refills them. Sometimes, timing resets can be absolutely crucial.
  • Finish the treatment before the tenth round is over. If the illness breaks containment, the fight becomes far harder, and you may lose the patient.

Card and Resource Tips

  • Favour cards that give protection and damage, or restore Fireyhearts; they provide the most value per turn.
  • Avoid incorrect button presses in Wind Sense minigames. A few advanced Prescriptions require some practice before becoming useful.
  • Learn which illnesses hit Vital Energy the hardest and bring extra shielding options against them.

Rewards for Successful Healing

Curing patients pays well for early and mid-game healers. Typical rewards include:

  • Echo Jade and Memory items
  • Professional materials for upgrading Prescriptions
  • There are special rewards awaiting the members of the Silver Needles Sect, which include selectable items.
  • Experience and local exploration points

Failed treatments carry consequences. Some patients would die, or the illness would consume them. Therefore, handle risky cases with care.

Levelling Healer Mastery

At level 13, after finishing the exploration quest Legacy: Healer’s Calling, you can unlock and improve your Healer profession. Mastery raises Prescription effectiveness and unlocks Quick Treatment.

Key ways to level up:

  • Career Notebooks: find these through exploration or purchase them in the Season Shop. They raise Vital Energy and other Healer stats across five ranks and five tiers per rank.
  • Prescription Materials: Healer Giftboxes or Custom Career Giftboxes can be bought through the Season Shop to upgrade cards.
  • Keep checking the Profession menu; some cards need to be unlocked first before they can be used. Upgrading early pays off because higher mastery both shortens fights and opens Quick Treatment.
