Heartseeker is one of the first bosses in Where Winds Meet that really tests whether you know your stuff when it comes to the game’s combat. She has a huge scythe, teleports around with basically no warning, and combines rapid melee combos with some range pressure. You’ll find her at the end of the Still Shore dungeon as part of A Horse Neighs in the Forest and can revisit later for increased rewards if desired.
If she continues turning you into fertiliser, here is a straightforward breakdown of what she does and how to handle it.

Key Heartseeker Attacks and How to Respond

To make things easier, here is a quick reference table of her core moves:
| Attack | What Happens | How to Counter |

| Teleport Slash | She disappears and then reappears behind you. | Turn quickly and parry or dodge |
| Uppercut into Neck Pull | Rising slash followed by a scythe hook | Parry the sequence to avoid the pull-in. |
| Mist Burst | Leaps up and spreads damaging mist around her | Back away until it fades |
| Basic Scythe Combos | Fast strings that may contain several parry windows | Study the rhythm and parry or sidestep |

General Tips for the Fight

Heartseeker seeks to overwhelm you with pressure, but most of her moves are very predictable once you know the cues.
A few things help a lot here:
- Save your dodges for when she mixes unpredictable timing into her long melee chains.
- Try to parry as many of her standard scythe attacks as you can; it creates safe openings without overextending.
- When you see her blink out of existence, instantly prepare to defend. Ninety-nine per cent of the time, she will appear right behind you.
- Meridian touches the moment she summons the three red orbs. That’s among the easiest punishment windows she will give you.

Phase Two Breakdown

When you take away her first health bar, the arena will transition into its second phase. Heartseeker moves to the centre and starts charging up red lightning in her scythe. If this hits you, the fight is over on the spot.
To stay safe:
- Run to the edge of the arena.
- Wait behind one of the gravestones until the attack explodes.
- After this blast, she becomes much more aggressive.
Her combos speed up, and she hits harder, but the strategy remains the same:
- Keep calm, and keep parrying.
- Only punish when you are sure she has finished her string.
- Create distance when she jumps into the air; that’s typically when she begins her mist attack.
