Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 lives and dies on its combination of high-speed skating and delightful secrets buried around its levels. Possibly one of the most playful secrets available in the game is a short trip into the world of SpongeBob SquarePants under the ocean. That’s correct—within one of the stages, there lies a gateway to Bikini Bottom, the signature location of the popular cartoon show.
While this hidden zone does not serve as a complete map or contain typical goals, it provides fans with a nostalgic flash of happiness and the opportunity to skateboard together with some old friends from the ocean.
Unlocking the Undersea Shortcut

To reach Bikini Bottom, you’ll be playing the Skater Island level of the game, which is found in the THPS 3 setlist. As soon as you spawn onto the map, turn left and move straight along until you’re directly towards the old pirate ship that’s located within the corner of the area. A the front of this ship is the bowsprit—the slim wooden beam projecting over the water.
This is where you start. Skate up the ramp towards the boat, picking up speed by braking by holding A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation), and try to grind on the bowsprit using Y/Triangle. You’re going to have to balance and hold the grind until you get to the end of the beam, where you’ll want to jump off and propel yourself into the water.
If done correctly and with enough momentum, you’ll land near a floating rubber ring in the ocean. At that moment, the screen will cut to the familiar “Several Days Later…” title card from the SpongeBob show—signaling your successful entry into Bikini Bottom.
Skating Through Bikini Bottom

Once inside this undersea easter egg, you’ll find yourself surrounded by miniature recreations of iconic Bikini Bottom landmarks. SpongeBob’s pineapple house stands proudly beside Patrick’s rock and Squidward’s tiki-style home, while the Krusty Krab waits just a few feet away.
While the level itself is small, it has a few ramps and rails to mess around on. No goals to finish or collectibles to acquire, but the giddiness of skating in the native town of SpongeBob is incentive enough for fans. It’s a straightforward, otherworldly bonus that won’t stay around too long.
