Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG has been out since Version 3.3 and in the past couple of weeks, as more and more players engaged with the TCG system and challenged stronger opponents some meta teams, comps, decks and strategies have come to light. One of the most popular is what’s referred to as the NRE Engine. And we’re here to tell you what it is, how it works and how anyone can pick it up.
NRE Engine in Genshin Impact TCG
Genshin Impact TCG has a well-thought-out deck of characters and action cards which players can use to beat their opponents. The TCG game mode emulates almost all aspects of the game as we knew it and tries to incorporate it into the card game system. Among these is the food aspect of Genshin Impact which is incorporated into Genius Invokation TCG through Food Cards and the NRE.
In the game, the NRE device is used to consume recovery and revival foods to keep your character alive or bring them back after death. In Genshin Impact TCG, the NRE is a device that can be played to get 1 Food Event Card from your deck. Once played it stays on the left of your screen throughout the game and every time you play a Food Event Card to heal or buff your character, you draw another Food Event Card from your deck.
The reason this NRE Card is so broken is that the player using it, especially in actual PvP, can essentially outlast their opponent. The NRE Engine is essentially a Deck centred around NRE and food cards. This deck is best used on defensive or heal-based teams.
One of the most popular teams running the NRE Engine is a Geo Resonance team with Noelle and a Stonehide Lawachurl. These two have an extremely high defense as they can stack up multiple shields. When the food buffs are used through NRE, both Noelle and the Lawachurl get a considerable NA bonus. Once they unleash their burst- Noelle especially, becomes a monster to be wary of as she can one-shot you unless you have full health on.
While NRE Decks may not guarantee a win against higher-levelled or pro card players, it’s certainly an easy way for novices to cheese some fights against other novices just to get a feel of the game. It’s essentially a troll strategy where you keep healing after taking damage which can enormously bloat a battle.
This deck is especially effective against human players as the battle goes on for more than 6-7 Rounds after which most human players start to lose concentration or start getting desperate. Meanwhile, your opponent who isn’t using the NRE Engine can eventually be worn down and their decks chipped away slowly until nothing’s left.
This may seem like a solely defensive playstyle but it has good attack potential too. There are food cards that buff your NAs, reduce their dice cost and there’s even the famous Adeptus Temptation card which boosts your burst damage.
