In Avalon’s dark and wyrd-plagued world, appearances are always deceiving—and the “Through the Cracks” quest is no exception. Vanishing stock, strange portals, and phantasmal foes all point to a greater mystery lurking beneath the surface of Cuanacht. The quest is a rich mix of puzzle-solving, discovery through narrative, and tough combat, with a backdrop of the game’s signature bleakness.

Here’s how to complete it from start to finish.

Through The Cracks Quest Walkthrough

How to Start “Through the Cracks”

The quest begins in Cuanacht, one of the early major settlements you’ll come across in The Fall of Avalon. Look for Sine, a vendor with a stall near the town’s central area. She’ll mention a troubling problem: supplies and even people have been vanishing from her warehouse with no sign of break-ins.

Later, in a conversation with her, she will instruct you to check the warehouse yourself and give you the quest “Through the Cracks.”

Investigate the Warehouse (At Midnight)

To move forward, go to Sine’s Warehouse, which is a short walk east of her stall. But there’s one condition—you only have until 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM (midnight) to enter in order to solve the mystery.

  • How to Wait for Midnight: If it’s daytime or too early in the evening, simply sleep near a nearby campfire or in bed until midnight. Just remember to keep an eye on the clock—you have only a small window of opportunity to enter.
  • Enter the Portal: At midnight, when you enter the warehouse, observe the area for an odd black-and-purple swirling portal on the ground by the right-hand wall. Enter it, and you’ll be drawn in without effort into a strange alternate world—one heavily corrupted by the Wyrd.

Explore the Wyrd Realm

Welcome to a twisted, eerie version of Avalon where the laws of nature don’t seem to apply. This dimension is filled with Wyrd magic, corrupted beings, and strange architecture.

  • Find Percy: Soon after entering, you’ll meet Percy, the missing worker whom Sine mentioned earlier. Talk to him to gather more context about the strange occurrences here.
  • Solve the Wyrd Root Puzzle: Go up the wooden stairs after your talk. To your right, you will see a pedestal. Talk to it to drive away the Wyrd roots that stand in your way. This will open up the path ahead of you, and you will be able to move further into the kingdom.

Confront Gaelric Tarian

Your investigation will lead you directly to Gaelric Tarian, the perpetrator behind the commotion. No matter how you approach the talk, it always leads to a confrontation, so be prepared for it.

Combat Tips:

  • Gaelric possesses good melee abilities and can use abilities based on Wyrd.
  • Stay at a distance if you employ ranged or spell-based classes.
  • Cast buffs or wards prior to engaging to provide yourself with an advantage.
  • Watch for phase shifts or environmental hazards—this is a Wyrd realm, after all.

Defeating Gaelric is the main objective of this quest.

Return to the Real World

After Gaelric is defeated, look for the amber-colored egg-shaped portal behind him. This functions as your way out of the Wyrd dimension. Touch the portal, and you’ll be instantly returned to Sine’s Warehouse—alongside Percy, who safely made it back with you.

Quest Reward: Mystic Ward Spell

Go back to Sine at her shop and tell her what happened. She’ll be thankful that you revealed the truth and rescued Percy. In return, you’ll get the Mystic Ward spell. It’s a worthwhile defensive spell that:

  • Calls a magical ward for 120 seconds.
  • Prevents the subsequent damage that hits you completely.
  • When activated, it explodes, causing magical damage within a 4-meter radius around you.

This is an excellent defensive spell for mages, or even melee characters that desire an “insurance policy” when charging into combat.
