If you’ve tumbled into the dark world of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, you already know this game doesn’t shy away from the spooky, the esoteric, and the just plain weird. “Pumpkin Peril” is one such side quest that fits well into that spooky category. It’s short, strange, and full of just enough weird things to make you say, “Wait, did that skeleton just give me seeds?”
To complete this quest, players will have to do a lot of travelling and open up many Fast Travel points, and seek out a very particular set of farmers who will sell you the seeds. However, you have to find Eogan first, which is in the Fortress walls, tucked away in one of the southwestern wall rooftops.
How to Complete the Quest?
Starting the Quest
To kick off the “Pumpkin Peril” quest, you’ll first need to find Eogan. He’s usually pretty easy to spot, often loitering around a village or settlement with an air of someone who definitely knows more than he lets on.
What does he want?
Simple: pumpkin seeds. That’s it. No monsters to slay or riddles to solve—just some seeds. But, of course, this is Tainted Grail, so nothing is ever that simple.
Wait Until Nightfall
You want to complete this mission at night. If you walk into Roscree during the day, you won’t be able to see what you’re looking for.
When night falls, take your gear and head to the village of Roscree. You’ll have to be cautious—night in Avalon isn’t exactly safe for sightseeing. Aggressive monsters and foreboding ambient sounds can be anticipated.
Find the Skeleton Farmer
Here’s where things get weird.
As you wander through Roscree under the light of the moon, you’ll find yourself standing face to face with a skeleton farmer—a literal, honest-to-goodness walking skeleton, still tilling his soil as if it’s any other Tuesday.
This is your guy.
What to do:
- Speak to the skeleton.
- He’ll hand over the pumpkin seeds without a word.
- No fight, no puzzle—just a simple exchange with a very dead gardener.
Return to Eogan
Seeds are in hand, and the only thing left to do is head back to Eogan. Make it daytime when heading back because some interactions and dialogue options can be locked or unavailable at night.
Rewards
This is where things get anti-climactic. A number of players have noted that the quest wraps up without a central reward or dramatic conclusion. No equipment, no rain of gold, not even a new pumpkin recipe. The real payoff, instead, is the flavour—that spooky atmosphere and the unusual NPC interactions that add texture to the world of Avalon.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Don’t forget to save before heading into Roscree at night—just in case you run into something not so friendly, like a skeleton farmer.
- Take a torch or lantern. It’s dark, and you’ll want to get a good look at the skeleton.
- If the skeleton is not there, check the game time and come back after a full day/night cycle.
“Pumpkin Peril” might not be the most epic of side quests in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, but it’s a good example of the game’s creepy charm. Short, strange, and a little spooky—it’s a quest that helps to make Avalon feel like a real, lived-in (and haunted) world.

You missed the final conclusion. If you come back days later a “pumpkin” has grown. It deals damage to you if you get too close and it’s killed Eogan.
