In PEAK, the mysterious co-op climbing adventure that’s taken the indie world by storm, you’ll frequently encounter strange and ominous-looking statues across the island. At first glance, these grim statues may seem threatening—many players initially assume they’re dangerous traps. However, the truth is quite the opposite.

These statues don’t kill you. In fact, they give good rewards and positive effects that can increase your probability of living ten times over, even resurrecting fallen teammates. Let’s examine statuary a bit closer and see why they’re worth seeking out along the way to the top.

Where to Find Statues in PEAK?

Statues are found at various spots in the island’s various biomes, starting as early as the SHORE zone—your destination of choice after the crash. They’re usually near campfires or small secluded areas that are recessed into the sides of trails. Easy to overlook if you’re racing against the clock, but spending a minute or two searching will probably pay off for one of these ancient statues.

Even if you avoid the initial statue, don’t worry. Statues exist throughout the island and respawn elsewhere. Watch out as you roam about—especially along resting spots and dangerous vertical changes.

What Happens When You Touch a Statue?

It always yields a positive. No matter how clunkily they are constructed, there are no negative effects—no killing, no cursing, no slowing. The statues actually yield one of the best sources of mythic or legendary gear in the game.

Obtain Rare Equipment

When you engage a statue in conversation, it randomly selects a high-level item and hands it over to you. These are often items you’d otherwise only find in Ancient Chests, and they can dramatically alter the course of your expedition. One particularly powerful example is the Bugle of Friendship, which temporarily gives infinite stamina to your entire squad for 10 seconds. Used at the right moment—especially during steep climbs or tough scrambles—this item can mean the difference between success and a deadly fall.

These statues are random in what they give you, although it’s always something beneficial. They can be stamina boosts, better tools, or other beneficial things on the entire team. Technically, they’re free upgrades.

Statues May Also Revive Fallen Heroes

One of the best uses of the statue is when your team is half-killed or busted. If you had some dead members from climbing, conversing with a statue will bring them back to life, and you can revive them without the use of more risky or costly reviving methods.

This makes statues a priority when your team is struggling. Instead of spending it on the Cursed Skull—bringing others back but sacrificing yourself—a statue is a risk-free, no-brainer means to bring your team back to action.

Are Statues Worth the Work to Acquire?

Absolutely. While statues are spaced out across the island and not always immediately visible, taking the time to locate them is well worth the effort. Whether you’re after a game-changing item or hoping to resurrect fallen allies, the payoff is consistently beneficial.

Since the difficulty curve in game and increasing hindrances as you progress through biomes, all play a role. Legendary statues that you can pick up as items can be your edge to get over an otherwise really tough climb or bad weather.
